Yup the atmosphere is the strongest thing about the show, is even better in that sense than some of the films that inspired it, maybe its concepts are not original but the way it mixes all of them is smart and refreshing, also I don't think there is any other tv show that gives homage to the 80's in this way, it may not be original but is rather unique and the execution is almost perfect.

One of my favorite shows watched in 2016.

I really liked that it was 8 episodes so felt like a long film rather than a formulaic show. I also enjoyed them resolving major story threads while leaving bit of mystery for next season.

Havnt got Netflix, but it sounds interesting and something that I'd enjoy.

It's good quality tv. However, I'm halfway through and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Growing up on 80's TV and movies, I like where it gets its inspirations but perhaps it draws too heavy on those inspirations. Every plot event reminds me of something I've already seen. Maybe it's lacking something I'm yet to identify. I'm just not totally satisfied with it. I binge watched half the season but I'm currently struggling to find the motivation to see the rest.

Haven't seen it. Trying to convince my wife to watch it. She doesn't like scarier shows. How much horror or intense elements does it have?

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Oh man! What a fantastic show, so many nostalgic elements yet it all feels new. That intro tune is so cool, it really sets up the mood, the casting was superb, the only downside were the visual effects, I think the dark atmosphere helped hiding some of the poor fx, but some scenes were hilariously bad, by fortune those were just brief sequences that didn't affect the whole experience.

I wouldn't call it an out and out horror show, but are moments of suspense and creepiness.

If I had to say to a parent I'd guess 13 and up handle it, 12 and under might be scared.

My wife does not like horror, but she really enjoyed watching it with me (we binged it in 2 evenings and stayed up way too late). It has some minor creepy moments and the only real scare tactic is the typical silent then really loud try to make you jump.

I avoiding reading the comments until I've finished watching it. I started this morning and I'm on episode 6 right now. I can't stop watching it.

Finished it in one day and I cannot wait for a second season.

I get how some people think it isn't original or relies too much on 80's references, but I still think it is very well done and a nice alternative. A lot of the nods are subtle and organic and they managed to do an entire season without dragging it out.
