Good point. Though I think it will be dead before that.

The profit earned is for the company, not per employee. I could develop a game that earns a billion dollars, my salary would be the same. Maybe a bonus if the company wants.

No ...

It's a metric, and one that's valued in certain industries.  Apple makes about $400,000 per employee, Walmart makes about $6000 per employee.  Gabe Newell once said Valve makes more per employee than Apple, thought that's been years ago.

That's probably still true considering that Valve has no employees. At least that's what quality control on steam says.

That's good, about 1/5 of what GTA 5 did in its first day globally!

Yup, I'm pretty sure the Canadian winter is going to be deadly for Pokemon Go if it's still popular by then.

Signature goes here!

Definitely impressive. I think the more interesting and important thing is how it holds up in the long run. Sure, it'll get a few spikes with releases in other countries, but Niantic really need to keep things fresh with the app to keep people playing.

Finding Pokemon Games in Germany has become a real struggle by now! Everywhere I look, ORAS are constantly sold out! At least my local Media Markt has restocked on X and Y, but God knows how long that will last.

I already thought about getting Alpha Sapphire from the eShop. But Nintendo wants 44,99 € for that, 5 € more tha what I would have to pay in a store for a physical copy! Those prices are nuts! Ugh, guess I'll just wait a little more, the hype has to slow down sometime.

You mean this sarcastically? Anway, we can't compare mobile games with console games, it's a complete differen market. Anyway to compare a game with GTA 5 is unfair, it's simply the most successfull game ever.

Same goes for revenue per employee as mentioned by someone: You can't compare apples with oranges. For to construct a building for example, guess what, you need lots of employees. For developing an app, guess what you don't need many employees. So, if the total revenue and the revenue per employee of the latter is much higher than the former, what does it mean? Developing apps is a better business than construction?

Anyway, it makes me angry if people think that all this "start-up-app-IT-thing" is the greatest thing on earth. These people are hyped like rockstars. But do they do anything for society? They don't develop lots of workplaces, they don't pay taxes, they don't have any effect on local business and they don't bring anything of real worth neither material nor immaterial to the people.

Tell that to Aussies surviving the chilly ice cold winter right now ;)

Depends on what part of Australia compared to Europe and North America winter is pretty mild even in the south east.

Where in the world does this come from? The not paying taxes part really gets me, what do you think they do with their earnings? Stuff it into an IT based pillowcase?
