The Netherlands I think 27 is the soft cap and 30 is the hard cap to leave your parents is house. Mortage and rent are redicilously high over here.

Like Wright, i come from the Iberic peninsula and nowadays living with your parents is normal because of the difficult financial situation.

The Netherlands is where i live now. I live with a dutchie who was pretty much "forced" to leave his parents place because if he stayed, they would lose social security benefits. That is just Bizarre. Alot of the things here in the Netherlands are bizarre and would never roll where i come from. The dutch are bullied around by their politians alot.

Yep Dutch politicians are strange and have invented strange laws. But in general the big picture is managed quite well. Such a shame they cancelled studiefinanciering instead you can get a loan with low rent. Luckily college money remains quite affordable €2000- a year and rising every year with €50- is pretty affordable for most.

It is not really embarrassing to me when I hear someone lives with their parents. I mean, things happen. My girlfriend and I live together in an apartment. Our parents are not allowed. United States.

It's never embarrassing. That is an illusion. Why would it be? Plenty of families PREFER living together. I don't live with my folks, but they are only a mile away and I see them at least once a week.

Why is it considered weird to live with your parents? Leeching off them is one thing, but enjoying living with your close family is something completely different. It is common in a plethora of cultures.

As an American, it almost seems like it is considered some form of weakness or shame here. It's bizarre.

I moved out of home at 15, im from NZ. I think the normal age is between 18-22 any later and its getting embarrassing.

I've never really concerned myself with "why" when it comes to culture...

It stems from the thought or mindset that people have to go on their own and pave their own way rather than be provided for by their parents. One of those marks of adulthood where you can take care of yourself.

I feel like there are always reasons why people may live longer with their parents, but at the same time, I feel like leaving your parent's home is part of growing up.

I live in Brazil and here, there´s anything embarrasing about living with your parents if you´re an adult

The main reason for that is because housing is very, very expensive in Brazil and the average income is very low (lower than the world´s average income).

Renting a house / apartment is very expensive for a single person to handle. Buying a house or apartment is also very difficult and most people goes on debts of 15+ years to buy one. So people stay as long as possible living with their parents to be able to save money.

There´s also a cultural factor: most people here quit living with their parents when they get married, family ties here are very important. Of course, it´s a little bit easier to pay rents or debt portions with two people. Even so, couples still go on debt for many years to buy a home.

when your 20+ and still live with your parents your a fckn retard

It depends in many eastern cultures its normal and people follow it even if they live in west.

I likely will stay mid to late 20's

After you turn 25, it becomes sad in Texas... Unless you're legitimately contributing to the household. I suppose it's more embarrassing to just not have a job.
