Forums - Sports Discussion - The NFL Thread 2016: New England Patriots Win Super Bowl LI

Who will win Super Bowl LI?

New England Patriots 51 47.66%

Kansas City Chiefs 3 2.80%

Pittsburgh Steelers 6 5.61%

Other (AFC) 3 2.80%

Dallas Cowboys 10 9.35%

Atlanta Falcons 15 14.02%

Seattle Seahawks 5 4.67%

Green Bay Packers 5 4.67%

Other (NFC) 4 3.74%

Scoreboard 5 4.67%

Total:107

I truly do not understand Joe Flacco's decision making on third down. First series of the game, third down, throws it to a receiver in tight coverage four yards behind the first down line. He consistently did this in the 1st half of the New England game too. It's not like he's under immense pressure or anything either, this is just the throw he chooses. Maybe it says more about the play calling than the decision making, but...it seems like Flacco should be aware that isn't nearly enough for a first.

My regret of benching Ajayi for LeVeon Bell is now gone.

Good job AB

Damn I love AB.....3 for 3 on changed picks....

Nice win by Pittsburgh they would have been dangerous even as a wild card teams but since they didn't win enough games they had to win their division.

Baltimore loses, and the curse of Deflategate lives on for another year.

That has to be one of the dumbest fake field goal calls I've ever seen.

First off, it's 4th & 10, and you pitch it to McManus. You're really going to rely on your kicker to outrun the defense for ten yards?

Secondly, even if he did somehow make it to the first down, he was going to have 15 seconds or so left, at the most, with 25 yards to go for a TD. You've got one, maybe two plays. Your chances at scoring a TD are minimal. You're giving up 3 points for a very low % shot at a touchdown. That is not good risk/reward management by Kubiak, who already likely cost his team a loss against Kansas City with an extremely questionable fourth down call.

If Detroit wins tomorrow, they'll clinch a playoff berth. That would only leave a single playoff team we wouldn't know before week 17. A lot of the seeding is still up in the air though.

Can't say that I am surprised that the Broncos lost. Can't say it about the margin the lost by either. The team has been in a tailspin. At one point they were 8-4 (or 8-3 or 7-2, I don't know anymore).

Opposite of Steelers with the 4-5 start, but Steelers had a reason for losing games with Big Ben injury.

And both had strength of schedule aligned to make it easy for Broncos and hard for Steelers at the start of the season and flip flopped now in late season.

Broncos first five games were pretty brutal. Panthers, Colts, @Bengals, Bucs, Falcons. Idk what the records are, but those are 4 pretty good teams and then the Colts. Last season they made enough plays to win close games. They started this season doing that, but their luck run out as the season went on. And late in the season you need to be able to run the ball, the Broncos lost all ability to do that when CJ went down.

Front office clearly thought the defense was good enough to overcome such a pathetic offense, they were clearly wrong. Some of the stuff can be slightly excused due to injury, but there was no reason they needed to field the offensive line that they did. And the offense has literally zero creativity. Look at what KC is doing with Hill or Kelce, haven't seen anything like that in Denver since McDaniels was the HC.

The defense will still be great next season, though. They need to sign 3 or 9 offensive linemen and try to find a play maker at TE.
