If PokeVision shut itself down, they woud have announced it properly, instead of the cryptic "I wish we had news to tell you" tweet on Twitter.

Also, several other sites providing the same service shut down at the same time. Do you believe that they all had the same intention at once? (The comment from the Niantic CEO is a few days old now...)

The shutting down of those websites has more to do with the update messing everything up for them. They will be back in full force once they learn how to get behind Niantec's servers (which by the way, is against terms and condition since day 1).

Their are other formats of services provided by others, that use different system of gathering data that fully work still.

This could all be avoided if Niantec actually fixed the tracker provided in game by adding more service resources, instead of lying about it being a minor bug. Pokevision themselves even expressed interest in continuing their project until the tracker was fixed. Right now, Niantec have started a fight that can only damage their reputation in the long run.

What services are these? If you're talking about some kind of social contribution site, please keep in mind that I live in regional Australia, with very little population density that make any kind of collaborative effort pretty much worthless.

So they didn't repair the tracking system they just removed it, and on top of that they shut down apps like pokevison? Come on Niantec...

Gotta steer people towards microtransactions, right?

There isn't a microtransaction which creates a functional radar though... the game is just completely missing the ability to do the job, it's annoying, maybe Niantic should get in contact with the people at pokevision and ask them for tips as to how to make a tracking function work using the Pokemon Go API because clearly Pokevision could do a better job of it than Niantic right now.

As for the app changes since the patch... jesus catching pokemon is so weird now, compared to prepatch it's like throwing balls underwater for some mon, Scyther appears to need to be hit about 10 feet above where he shows up to register the pokeball contacting with him now, just practiced with normal pokeballs cos I couldn't be bothered wasting great balls. I guess that is one way to increase microtransactions? make you throw away Pokeballs so you buy some? would be nuts though especially since Pokeballs are the only things on the shop not Great or Ultra balls so I can't see someone paying €1 for 20 of the things.

I'm a bit sad that the app seems to have just gotten worse with the patch though... I mean I spent a tiny amount of cash upgrading bagspace to make the app more fun to play because I could have seen me playing it for a long time, since this is the first content patch and all it done is make it worse I could see me playing it less and less as more patches come to break more features off or to push people into buying microtransactions of pokeballs or so, which is a shame... but that said I feel I've happily got my monies worth from what I did play of the app so far so I'm not bitter about changes now, I'll just be sad if they ruin what could have been a fantastic game, rather than fix up what is clearly as others have said... is an alpha to a semi good game right now.

(increased flight time on pokeballs to allow wild pokemon more time to bat them away is just cheap, gotta add that)

- Lowering find radius from 100m to 70m

- Eliminating tracking "bug" by disabling tracking altogether

These two go together very poorly. The find radius was too large before, but seeking anything specific was practically impossible even before due to the footprint bug. Now it's even more impossible, if that's even possible. I've literally spent something like 30 minutes looking for a specific Pokémon, searching for it everywhere where I could go in the vicinity, and not finding it anywhere despite it being 'near'. It's good that the footprint feature was removed instead of letting it mislead players, but it should come back. After it comes back, the new radius is fine.

Also, I'm not a fan of some of the font changes. I think they bolded some of the texts in the game, and it looks kind of heavy now.

I would have happily accepted a lower search radius had they fixed the tracking beforehand. In fact, it would have added to the fun of pinpointing Pokemon as you track them.

You know the worst thing about you looking around for 30 mins for one pokemon? The max time any pokemon can be live on the map is for 15minutes, so if you seen a guy there for longer it was either a second spawn in another location so you might have not walked back to where it had been previously... or worse again your tracking portion of the game hadn't properly updated and was holding onto data of a mon who was long gone, seen that happen a load while Pokevision was working perfectly to definitely show that a mon was gone which the game was stating should still be in a area.

After a day out trying to catch guys I find the new higher escape rates to be just so boring while playing it, and I only had it happen to a single rare pokemon and about 30 ratattas, I know the idea there is to get more people buying pokeballs from the store... but that isn't what will happen because of this, the experience of going out catching things is now a lot less fun so people will just leave the game I'd think.

Yeah, that too... It's really annoying how unreliable the updates are. Come to think of it, a lot of things seem to point at this being a rushed launch, because so many things were (or still are) broken.

Are there any other changes that people have observed with this new update?

Yeah. They finally fixed that curved Pokedex glitch on my Z3 Compact.

So there's been some controversy over the recent update to Pokemon Go. The following changes have been observed:

- Lowering find radius from 100m to 70m

- Eliminating tracking "bug" by disabling tracking altogether

- Reports of some installations no longer allowing Battery Saver mode to be set

- Reports of wild Pokemon fleeing from battle more frequently

- Reports of gyms no longer working

- Some accounts being reset back to level 1 after update

Also, Niantec's President kept true to his word, as other tracking solutions like PokeVision have stopped working.

Are there any other changes that people have observed with this new update?

They've removed the xp from throw bonus's now, so nice, great and excellent throws no longer give 10 50 or 100 bonus exp after the fight is over, curveballs seems to be the only throw bonus which remains and a strange 100xp bonus which seems to pop up randomly at times after some wild pokemon.

Found two more bugs yesterday:

- Swiping sideways from one Pokemon to another in the details screen is horrible! It's like trying to fight against an elastic band keeping the screen in place.
- Powering up a Pokemon (with candy + stardust) on the details screen can sometimes make the screen translucent afterwards. It gets fixed when you (manage to) swipe across to the next Pokemon, or exit the screen.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen a company that introduces more bugs than fixes in an update.

I did notice that weird bonus once, but I was flicking through too quickly to notice what it was for.

On another note....a lousy 10XP for a curveball, and losing out on the Nice/Great/Excellent bonuses....what a ripoff.
