So there's been some controversy over the recent update to Pokemon Go. The following changes have been observed:

- Lowering find radius from 100m to 70m

- Eliminating tracking "bug" by disabling tracking altogether

- Reports of some installations no longer allowing Battery Saver mode to be set

- Reports of wild Pokemon fleeing from battle more frequently

- Reports of gyms no longer working

- Some accounts being reset back to level 1 after update

Also, Niantec's President kept true to his word, as other tracking solutions like PokeVision have stopped working.

Are there any other changes that people have observed with this new update?

I can no longer transfer Pokemon. I don't know if it's just me though. This update really sucks pretty badly.

The removal of the footsteps and pokevision is pretty daft... I mean it just makes the whole experience less functional, where is the + to doing that?

Thankfully I'm still grand with everything but that 70m radius is going to make one of the Gyms in my town inaccessible completely during the evenings because the gps location of it is actually just on the limit of 100m from the footpath near it. so yeah... town just lost a Gym, shame.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Until they repair the steps thing, I'm fine with it not being there. But the smaller finding ratius is a pain, and I was hoping for a more precise step count, sometimes I walk a lot and the eggs barely get any progress.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I think the removal of the steps fromt he radar confirmed that this wasn't a bug, as Niantic stated, rather a measure to free up resources due to high server demand. I quitely think that we might not see it return until the game drops off a little in popularity.

I have a theory about the eggs thing too, because I'm having issues with it. Awhile ago, I was told that a silent update was made server side to remove "GPS noise" from the egg count, so people with dodgy GPSes cannot hatch eggs from just standing around and having the GPS send glitchy data. My GPS actually takes several seconds to respond in game, and I've often wondered if the game actually counts those steps between the point where the avatar freezes and where he runs to, in order to catch up to where I currently am.

Totally agree. At the very least, Niantic could have allowed PokeVision as a temporary measure, until the radar issue is solved. However, I do believe that there are plans here that Niantec are keeping from us *cough*permanent removal*cough*. I personally don't use PokeVision, but I do understand why some others do...

70m radius will only add to this frustration. In the first week that this game was released, it was fun to use the tracker to pinpoint a Pokemon's location. Now it involves aimlessly wandering around a spot blindly until you find something. I can't count how many times a Pokemon has slipped away because of this, as well as a glitch involving old radar results not disappearing. Now that the radial search area has halved, I can only see this becoming a lot more common.

It's actually hidden in that menu button in the bottom right now. I fell for the same thing.

Oh, thank you.  I feel dumb.

No problem.

I think I recall something about not being able to transfer favourited Pokemon anymore, in order to prevent accidental transfer. One of the few positive things about this update.

Is this update very recent? I haven't had any problems with it, aside from the poke tracker no longer working anymore, which is very lame. I see new pokemon pop up on it, but I have no way of tracking it down. What's the point of the tracker now?! Ugh... Besides that, everything else still works fine and it's still fun.
