Forums - Gaming Discussion - Souls and Borne ain't hard...as games go. You know whats actually difficult?

I am better at Dark Souls than I am at Bloodborne (which is strange, because I strongly prefer Bloodborne to the Dark Soulses) but I can agree that they aren't incredibly hard outside of a few areas that might be more accurately described as completely unfair. I am looking at you Anor Londo archers.

The first Rayman is my classic go-to super hard game. Except that game is incredibly hard and totally unfair and I still love it.

People saying bloodborne and Souls games are unfair, lol not in the slightest.I beat every single boss in BB and Dark Souls 3,yet to find the game unfair in anyway.

Probably Ninja Gaiden. Difficult, but rewarding and not unfair in the slightest.

Blood/Souls are boring. The objective is pretty much to die over and over again.

You've had that same sig for as long as I can remember, well before I signed up. Who are they exactly?

Google searched the image, it seems to be a still from this

Bloodborne isn't 'hard'... it's unfair. When you defeat an enemy or boss, you have defeated them. You earned the XP. To be forced to manually find a save point to keep said XP is the definition of unfair.

If the game wasn't an RPG which relied on leveling up (yes, 99% of people need to level up to have a chance in that game), then ok. But since you do, the formula is unfair imo. Either I earn it, or you take it away and if you're taking it away, then you have an unfair game on your hands.

You didn't really play video games in the  80s or 90s, did you?

Souls and bloodborne isn't hard, but have a unique play style that people don't play by. For example, people like taking on horde of enemies, but that doesn't work in the soul series.

I found Demon's Souls to be a good challenge. I'm WAY behind in this series. Factoring in the plat grind that took 4 playthroughs, and a horrific item farming marathon to cap it off. It was hard enough. It certainly took commitment, time, and skill. It also took a (somebody else's) good plan to get the plat in only 4 playthroughs. But I would say that I agree with you in the sense that there certainly are a large number of more difficult games out there.

Sounds like your first objective should be to git gud.

What's actually difficult is defeating Borderlands 2 and it's broken scaling system. The game where you have to rely on the game's built in health gate just to stay alive. Even trash mobs would be one shotting you if not for the health gate. And it's not like SoulsBorne where you can learn an enemies attack patterns or get a feel for the level and if you die it's your own fault; with BL2 you just have to make your one or two viable builds and hope you don't get a DoT in your travels because if you do you're boned.

I actually got the Handsome collection downloading. Are these issues fixed and whats  DoT? Only played BL2 for an hour or two or three on the VITA and can't really remember, I just know I had a lot of fun.

It's hell fun.

What I mentioned aren't issues though. They're features so they're not going anywhere. DoT = damage over time. So say you get hit by a fire gun, the initial damage will strip your shield and knock you down to 20% health and then the fire damage will take out the rest of your HP the next second. Explosive damage counts as two hits (the initial hit then the explosive damage) so that will kill you instantly.

Keep in mind this only rears its ugly head towards the end of playthrough two and then becomes something you always have to prepare for in playthrough 3 and beyond. You can never really be a demi-god in Borderlands 2 because the game is scaling exponentially around you. More levels = more growth.

Ninja Gaiden Black was pretty fucking hard. First time I played that game I quit about half way through, and that wasn't even on the hardest difficulty lol

This times a thousand

For me, the most difficult part of Borderalnds 2 was that it was a glitch filled nightmare. I lost crazy amounts of time with crap like frozen bosses, doors that wouldn't open, ect.

Never ran into many glitches. The only one I can think of is getting stuck unable to move after a respawn if I was in someone elses games.
