Forums - Microsoft Discussion - W10 Anniversary Update Removes Features, Cortana Always On

I've stuck with Windows 7 so far, and I'm glad I did. Really don't like this trend of them taking away user options, and that's the original reason I stuck with Win 7. Because they take away my ability to turn off windows automatic update in Win10. And now they keep taking away more options like that.

Windows 7 will probably be the last Microsoft OS I use, since they will likely cease support for Win 7 in a few years.

Thought they already had.

I'm increasingly happy I stuck with 8.1 + Classic Shell. It keeps life simple.

8.1 starting to look real good to Windows users.  Glad I'm paranoid and never upgraded.

Same, we're on 7 and It was annoying enough to see that lower right hand pop up everybday asking to upgrade. Had to uninstall that update two separate times. I almost consider it a stroke of luck that my little brother or I didn't click the "X" icon to close out of that upgrade box because I guess that was changed to actually grant the update rather than disable the notification.

Still, Mac isn't an option I'm keen on and Linux isn't there yet. Guess we're stuck on W7 until further notice (which is okay, that iteration of Windows is perfect for me).

Why does MS feel the urge to do this crap?
And about search in particular, that's probably the only thing that in Windows 7 is worse than in XP (and IIRC, it worsened after an update that added useful features, but alas, MS really needed to balance them with a stupid thing that time too, it must be some sort of curious psychiatric disease), making it even worse is beyond stupid.

Bump, because when MS tries such shit people must not ignore it.

It's not a case of trying though, users have little to no options on the windows updates they receive depending on their version of Windows 10, it's sadly a choice to make, do you want access to Windows 10 exclusive games from the Windows Store or do you want to keep onto an older OS in 7 or 8.1.

I know it's a very shit response because it annoys me when I hear it from others on here and I don't mean to be annoying, but with Windows as your OS, your opinions are "like it" or "fuck off somewhere else" and the average user on the street has already "upgraded" to windows 10 thanks to the GWX app rolled out as a critical update for windows 7 and 8.

Main point is that MS are not trying to roll these changes out to people, they have already done it.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Glad I didn't upgrade

Still glad I'm staying with 7 until Linux decides to pick up the pace.

Sad, but true.

Neither did I, luckily, but I had to be extremely careful for many months each time I updated Win 7.
