Did you just put IX behind every other mainline FF...? oh boy... ;p

I did, but only because of the trash characters, trash story, trash dialogue, and... Well, I suppose the actual combat was okay. a Return to four characters, even if every single character on screen was an eyesore.

2. V, IX, VIII
3. I, II, III, X, XII, XIII

I like the 1990s Final Fantasy

I haven't played 1, V, IX, X, XII and the MMORPGs:

1.- Final Fantasy VIII. The flawed masterpiece, a timeless gem that extracted every single ounce of power inside the PS1 and created a magical game that managed to further cement the influence of Final Fantasy in the industry as well as still bringing an RPG that had almost no match at that point. Regarded as the black sheep of the franchise, it's also one of the most divisive entries in its history.

2.- Final Fantasy IV. A game that not only refined and perfected the way RPGs were played, but also set the precedent and foundation of videogames being able to properly translate complex stories into the relationship between game and player. A flawed and very human cast, a subversion of interactivity to accomodate for crucial plot moments (like Cecil becoming a paladin), an outstanding OST and also some of the most memorable sequences in the saga. Such a sublime videogame, and work of art altogether.

3.- Final Fantasy VI. What's here to say that people already don't know? Incredible and detailed cast, addictive and fun gameplay, really dramatic plot moments, themes of sacrifice and destiny interwined and to top it off, one of the greatest villains ever conceived. Oh, and the opera sequence. Let's not forget the opera sequence.

4.- Final Fantasy VII. The very first Final Fantasy I played (or maybe not, I have burned into my subconscious the intro of Final Fantasy IV, but I'm not really sure which one I played first), and the very first Final Fantasy game I beat. I'll always have a fond memory of this game. For some reason my grandma loved to watch me play it, despite not understanding anything and being scared by the monsters; she always cheered up at the sound of the victory fanfare. Oh, and the crossdressing sequence was a highlight of my childhood. It was weird that all the women were referred as men, though (Spanish translation shenanigans).

5.- Final Fantasy XIII. A somewhat simple story made very complex for the sake of it, but still worth experiencing. Some characters were hit or miss, but Sazh should definitively be on the top of FF's protagonists. Gameplay, albeit easy, was also addictive as heck, and I had a lot of fun 100% the game and then replaying it again for a second ride. By the way, beautiful soundtrack.

6.- Final Fantasy II. I can't barely remember anything about it, I should replay it one of these days. Emperor Mateus was rad as a final boss though!

7.- Final Fantasy X-2. Paine made me had some wet dreams as a kid. Also dressing up the ladies was...interesting, despite myself not liking the game for the most part because a) couldn't understand what the heck was going on since I hadn't played X and b) the combat system didn't resemble much of how I remembered it (FF VII and VIII, back then). Still should give it a go one of these days.

8.- Final Fantasy III. A game that starts strong but goes downhill after that. Job classes are cool but I remember being forced to choose some to properly beat certain sequences, and there was a lack of creativity altogether which made the game be a drag for the most part. Certain dungeons were uninspired as hell, though. This game really hasn't aged well, and I don't really have such great memories of it, though it was fun while it lasted.

9.- Final Fantasy XIII-2. The fuck is this. Why am I playing as the horrible Serah. What are these massive retcons out of nowhere, SE. What the fuck is going on. Why should I care? I definitively don't.

Shit Tier
FF13 - 6 /10

I'm surprised. Considering how much you hate it, a 6/10 means "decent" or "good". So that's awesome, coming from you.

1. FFXI
2. FFIX
3. FFXII
4. FFVI
5. FFX

When I look at the list above, any of those top 6 can be my favorite FF (and RPG for that matter) at any given time.

Of the ones I haven't finished:
8: FFVIII

10. FF

Sorry, Cloud and company were dope in KH, but I really didn't feel like finishing their adventures.
