Ps4 has taken the #1 spot for console software sales in Japan this generation.  It has just passed the Wii U.

The Wii U has many more big Japanese hitters though.

U had a big headstart and some heavy hitters.  

Ps4 had no heavy hitters yet but many more smaller titles.  It is what it is.  

But the milestone has been passed and I now crown the ps4 the software winner of this gen.  Full steam ahead! 

Yet neither have passed the 360 even though they have double the install base. How embarrassing!

According to VGC, the top 8 Wii U titles in Japan (7 of which have sold more than the highest selling PS4 game in Japan) make up over 60% of total Wii U software sold in Japan.

Considering that the WiiU right now had 44 month to sell software compared to the 28 month the ps4 had in japan it really shows how bad the WiiU is as a gaming console.

Depends on how you wanna see it. I choose to see it as quantity not being able to outweight the strong sales of Nintendo's heavy hitters in a faster pace.

Do we have some valid information how much games released in japan for both consoles? looking at wikipedia it's 768 games (wiiu) vs 1157 games (ps4)
