There's been a lot of rumors lately about the upcoming Nintendo console, the NX. Several gaming news outlets have written about it, and it seems like it's pretty legit. The NX will be a hybrid console; a handheld device which you put in a docking station so that you can play the same games on the TV. It also sounds like the games will be on a cartridge, similar to how 3DS and Vita games look and funtion like. But I haven't seen any real discussion/speculation on what this will have for effects on the actual games. Pricing and design? How will that change?
I'm gonna speculate on physical copies of games here:
I imagine that some games will be priced like traditional handheld games, around $40, while other games will be priced like tradition home console games, $60, the newest Zelda being of the latter category.
I also think that the pricing of the game will somewhat detirmined which kind of game it will be; a $40 game will be akin more to traditional portable games while the $60 games will be bigger and more suited for playing at home on the TV.
I'm sure you guys can think of even more variations of this! Let's hear them! What is your thoughts of how the NX games will be designed and priced?
