Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What will the NX games be like?

There's been a lot of rumors lately about the upcoming Nintendo console, the NX. Several gaming news outlets have written about it, and it seems like it's pretty legit. The NX will be a hybrid console; a handheld device which you put in a docking station so that you can play the same games on the TV. It also sounds like the games will be on a cartridge, similar to how 3DS and Vita games look and funtion like. But I haven't seen any real discussion/speculation on what this will have for effects on the actual games. Pricing and design? How will that change?

I'm gonna speculate on physical copies of games here:

I imagine that some games will be priced like traditional handheld games, around $40, while other games will be priced like tradition home console games, $60, the newest Zelda being of the latter category.

I also think that the pricing of the game will somewhat detirmined which kind of game it will be; a $40 game will be akin more to traditional portable games while the $60 games will be bigger and more suited for playing at home on the TV.

I'm sure you guys can think of even more variations of this! Let's hear them! What is your thoughts of how the NX games will be designed and priced?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

It'll be like a video game that is priced like other video games.

I think this is a quite interesting topic, and I'd like to hear your opinions of this. People here tend to have rather interesting insights from time to time, that's why I'm asking. Saying it'll be priced in two different ways (portable and home console) is the simple answer, doesn't mean that'll happen.

RPG Pokemon games will probably costs 50$ now. But at least they will probably look like 480p games with 720p Pokemon models...

Well, if you want to know what I think the games will be like, they will pretty much all be 1080p Wii U games (instead of the occasional 1080p with mostly 720p games) with the same frame rate as the higher production 1st party games (60fps), and more than likely MPAA, as opposed to no AA.

As for the price? I'm gonna go $50 and $60. Cost of handheld games may rise as they are now being made in HD, so this is what I'm gonna say.

it is interesting. I won't deny that.

I just enjoy making very vague comments.

It with have games in 3 catagories:

1) mobile games (phone games) (its a tablet, and nintendo are makeing mobile games now, they will play on it).
2) Handheld experiances (its a tablet, they want people to be able to enjoy most games on the go)
3) Home console type experiance of games (they dont wanna lose this market) (this could be smaller in future)

I think it could mean less normal home console type games in the future for the NX.
It will probably lean more towards games you can play with it as a tablet.

Thats okay with me.... you know what works well on the go?
Save points everywhere (short levels), and turn based combat :) there will be more RPGs (I hope).

I think it ll break down like this:

1) the smart phone games, will be freemium games. ads/p2w ect ect, typical phone stuff.

2) handheld type games going for 30-40$, like most 3ds users are used too.

3) the bigger games like Zelda BoTW (more traditional home console experiance), which will probably be 60$.

There was another thread which talks about "The prices of NX games".

Link?

But this thread isn't solely about price, it's also about the design of the games. Like I argue for; I think some games will be made specifically with portability in mind (shorter sessions) while others will be made with longer sessions in mind, like Zelda

Hopefully the next 3D Mario won't be too affected by this. I want something more ambitious like in 64 and Galaxy!
