It's the same as with anything else. They have sources who are actual studio employees who have told them things off the record. As we've seen many, many times, these developers might only know part of the puzzle, or the hints they're dropping are vague enough that the writer(s) didn't understand it clearly. The sources might be talking about material that has purposefully been obscured and they don't realize it. There are tons of possibilities as to why that article might not be accurate when the final product is released. Everyone should be aware of that.

As for this, however, it could all be nice-nice PR-talk unless they announce games. Remember that Ubisoft mentioned the NX exactly once during a long (loong) presentation and that was for Just Dance.

Every rumor should be met with a grain of salt and this is no different. Considering how Nintendo always is, we wont truly know anything concrete about it until its released. But till then, all we can really do is just theorize. Also just cause Nintendo have said things in the past doesn't really mean everything they said will make it through.

1. The handheld can act as a home console, hence there's no point having a separate home console aswell.

2. They're just spitting out PR BS. If they were really excited they'd announce games for it.

3. It says similar things to other rumors, but what's the significance? Every rumor ever also said Zelda U would come to NX.

4. Uh if they did that would mean this is real, but giving partial information without showing anything is a pretty poor way to create hype compared to a full detailed reveal in video.

5. Some leaks are fake, but some leaks are real.

6. Nintendo is a company that loves PR BS.

My opinion is that there's no harm talking about it as truth until it's proven fake. Less than two months to wait.

hm... what about the patent images/info we've been getting some months ago? did anyone compare the rumor to that, and see if everything lines up?

It could have been a planned leak from nintendos side to create abit of postitive buzz to keep stock prices up.

We ll know if it turns out to be true, sometime by the end of september.

They re probably saveing the games, for the real announcement or showing or whatever you wanna call that.

This is just them saying "we re doing portables, because its what we re good at, and look how well things went with pokemon go, we re gonna be big in mobile soon".

This is a tablet... it will play not just NX games, but all the mobile games nintendo are makeing for iOS and Android as well.

Expect a future with tons of mobile games, to play on the NX tablet.

Why start focusing on mobile games, and release a future tablet console, if you dont plan on also getting those mobile games on it?

This new tablet, means nitnendos focus is going to be mobile games.

The only reason we're even still talking about this rumor is because Eurogamer has the gall to label an obvious rumor as a "report". Funny how one little word can change perceptions so heavily.
