Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Wall Street Journal NX hybrid report, “compatible” mobile games

If it's based off Android, it's gonna have a play store...that means you can download a DS/GBA emulator and have the access to DS, GBA, mobile, AND NX games.

Predicting 500 million lifetime sales.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

"It goes without saying that we’re still very far away from any of the rumored details being proven true"

No we're not, we're less than two months away from knowing.

It will be 100% controlled by Nintendo, meaning no chance in hell of DS/GBA emulators offered. It will be a forked version of Android most likely with a custom Nintendo OS overlay, this is the same thing Amazon does.

That means Nintendo controls the entire app store and gets licensing fees from it (instead of Google).

Is compatible only with Nintendo games on smartphones I guess.

I don't want smartphones games on my consoles. I want deep immersive games on my consoles. Is that hard to understand? :P

Because being able to play the new mobile AC or Fire Emblem on NX is such an issue.

Read Rol post. Its probably that what they mean, or at least seems to.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Nintendo...why? Just put your mobile games on smartphones and have a dedicated gaming console! What is wrong with that? If NX has ANYTHING to do with mobile, I'm convinced that Nintendo is out of the loop with its gamers. Let alone gamers in general. If it sucks, we need to vote with our wallets and tell them...No, just no.

... and games made for the NX are going to be compatible with certain phones. How I see the future:

Nintendo moving to mobile
Microsoft moving to PC
Sony staying console and eventually moving to streaming.

The PS5 Exists.

I think this lends credence to Soundwaves theory that you might be able to access the google app store and download games and apps from there. This would mean that the NX is a suped up tablet which also functions as a home console. Could be what Nintendo needs and could see them dominate the gaming market. But I remain sceptikal, since it is Nintendo we're talking about

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

"compatible with ITS OWN GAMES"

What is exactly the problem of being able to play the next mobile AC in your NX? Nintendo why do you let me play your mobile phones on my console why???

Nikkei reported it first, like ages ago, and Nikkei has been correct about many other Nintendo related things before, so I take their word on that.

The reason is more basic than market maneuvering too -- Nintendo can make MONEY off mobile games, every time a kid downloads Candy Crush or Mobile Strike on NX, Nintendo will take 30% of all revenue on a custom Nintendo OS (Android fork) instead of Google getting the money.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out how lucrative that could become for Nintendo, they could make lots of money off NX with no traditional third party support even.

That's likely the appeal, plus on NX they'll get to keep 100% of the profit from their own mobile games.

They're shooting themselves in the foot with this. Why can't they accept that they need to break into the mobile market without being so full of themselves. They're doing too much and once again, the marketing team will have a terribly hard time marketing this thing. Is it a phone is it a handheld, is it a plug n' play, is it a console? I just want a concrete answer.
