Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo is doomed, a personal story.

I've been a gamer since I was 5 years old, A Nintendo gamer. I've been using the internet and forums since I was 11 (IGN forums back then in 2005)

Since then, I've experienced the same thing everytime Nintendo unveils a new console or handheld, what thing? "Nintendo is doomed, crazy and it's over for them" threads and articles from left to right. As a child, I was scared, didn't know better and always thought that my favorite company was going to dissapear. But now, now I understand, cause I see a new generation of "Nintendo is over" new kids and adults saying the same stuff. Because now, that mindset is an ideology and I'm pretty sure existed before me, too. I know this, my lil cousin told me "Nintendo sucks their games are shit" while he was playing happy wheels, I was heartbroken :'(

It's annoying for those who are Nintendo fans, but we will have to live with that forever, so it's important to understand that a community of gamers are toxic and they expect the death of Nintendo. I'm not talking about those who genuinely want a third party Nintendo because they are not going to buy a console for exclusives, I'm talking about those who really hate Nintendo and are happy when they fail.

"It's over for them, it's going to flop, they can't compete, game over" just accept those words, and you're going to be happy, forever. Don't take it too personal and long story short... it's just the internet, bruh!

To be fair, I've always thought Nintendoom thing started on the modern Nintendo. Even when we look back at the SEGA stand-offs, or the first videogame crash, people really had a fond memory of Nintendo. The view on it started warping after the Gamecube, I'd say, when their console struggled in the market and the Wii changed altogether (most) people's perception of Nintendo.

Which makes no sense, because they made astronomical amounts of money then.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I dunno, the video doesn't go full NintenDoom at any point. Some people acknowledge Nintendo's success in the market there.

Don't try to hide it, wright, I was using the internet before the wii. Nintendo was doomed back there too. The wii gave them more reasons/excuses.

=O You never used the Nintendo forums before they were shut down? Traitor!!! Haha jk! :P God I miss that place :'( The ranking system was so awesome as well. They even had live chat rooms and everything. It's that community that I have to thank for getting me into Resident Evil and I've made some really good online friends back then in those days :3

I was also led to believe that Nintendo is in a tough spot and that didn't change until 2007 when I saw overviews of financials of the various console manufacturers. It was mindblowing how much conventional wisdom and reality differed. Nintendo never was in trouble. Even now, they aren't. Their current cash and deposits are valued at 582 billion yen. Their IPs are still highly recognized. They have everything that is needed to have a very realistic chance at a comeback and rise to #1 again.

They do! although I don't care if they are not number 1. They could be successful without being the best seller!

I'm excited cause it looks like the nx is going to be the most powerful handheld ever!

Maybe it's because I'm on VGC, a forum where Nintendo fans are heavily represented, but I don't see that many users dooming Nintendo. There are a few, but there are also a few Nintendo fans that are equally bad in the other direction. Honestly, the occassions where Nintendo doom posts are most prevalent are when we get positive Nintendo news, and then we get some Nintendo fans saying "Nintendo: doomed since 1889" or something like that.

Like I said, there are a few, but not many. Or maybe I'm just subconciously ignoring them because I know Nintendo aren't doomed, so I don't worry.
