If its a console I'm there! Won't be buying the handheld though.

But what if this is both going forward for Nintendo?? If you don't want to use the portability you could just always leave it connected to the TV. Or would you rather just never play Nintendo games again??

1) Android Base - Yes, nothing in that video defined the OS as Android based. However, I think it is obvious at this point. WiiU and 3DS utilized Android OS software. Not to the point that they would run Android apps, but WiiU did run a version of Google maps and the apps it did utilize Android core packages. I think Nintendo will take this a step further to realize what I said they should do back in 2012. Use Android OS (slightly modified) such that they can use Android apps and greatly increase the flexibility of the core system's components. With this being a hybrid device with a touchscreen built on mobile based hardware, this will clearly setup the NX with the best set of apps, browser and hopefully an instant collection of thousands of mobile games.

There's a huge glaring problem with this, security. If Nintendo did this the NX would be hacked and opened up to piracy within a week.

I'll finish my Wii U collection and probably go retro. Would've done it already if it wasn't for the U.

This is the point where ktay and I have to ask: Are you a traitor?

What do you mean?

How exactly are discs a pain in the ass?

Its like voting in politics. If the candidate doesn't meet your needs then you find one who does. I'm a console gamer. If Nintendo refuses to make a console and Sony and MS keep doing what they are doing then I have no horse to back, or rather care to back. I'll withhold my support and let the chips fall where they may.

I will buy one on day 2 at Gamestop just out of spite for this thread.

I will return it on day 3 to Gamestop out of spite for Gamestop.

Then buy 2 on Day 4 from Amazon.

1) Silly rol. Anything that increases value is good. Having instant access to all of the Android based apps is a good thing. However, I would bet that Nintendo would do this through its own store vs using the Google Play Store. Think Amazon Fire separation. Thus Nintendo would collect the 30% of any $$ made via these apps.

2) I guess you have a point here. But I would say that in general costs for touch screens has decreased over the years since 2012.

You didn't answer the underlying question. Day 1?

Is Amazon's core business about selling their own video games? But the other flaw is that you highlight a 30% cut as something desirable when Nintendo's cut on their own software is much higher on top of generating much higher revenue with each purchase. Nevermind that Nintendo already gets a 30% cut from all the third party games that are sold on the eShop which, again, generate higher revenue with each transaction.

Regardless of what kind of suggestions you make, you always have to keep in mind what Nintendo's core business is and what their business motivations are. Having Android on their own platform does not align with Nintendo's goals. Even the Eurogamer rumor that you take as gospel as basis for this thread rules out Android on NX.

As for the question, no. Not Day 1. I knew the Wii U was a mess, so I didn't get it at launch either. Got it less than three months later at a discounted price. This rumored NX looks like a mess too, so I would handle it the same way.

Rol, assuming for a moment this rumor from Eurogamer is 100% true, what would be the worst aspect of the system in your opinion?

I like Nintendo and hope this all goes well for them. But. I have a PS3 with a big backlog, Don't use it nearly as much as I used to, although I did just buy a game for it today. :) A PS4 with a big backlog. And Vita with an even bigger backlog. Basically, I'm very heavily invested in the Sony ecosystem. It's where my 3 hardware platforms are at. It's where my games are at. My friends. My online identity. My trophies. You get the idea. I have no need for another console, but again, I hope Nintendo does well.

It doesn't matter if it's got the best specs on the market and does my laundry. I'm not buying another Nintendo system under the assumption that good games will come. I made that mistake four years ago. I need a great big list of games that I know are coming in forms that I want them in to make the plunge.
