Is Nintendo like unaware that you can connect smartphones wirelessly sometimes to your TV and play your games?

The diagrams for this supposed NX device show it to have detachable controllers that could potentially allow more than one person to play on this device in any location, which could mean local multiplayer from a single, portable tablet style device, which is pretty different to that.

Having the ability to connect a powerful dedicated gaming device to a TV could just be one of NX's capabilities.

It's possible when in portable mode you could set it up like a more homestyle experience, with the ability detach the controls and you could also play motion games if the controls have the sensor technology to allow for that.

Nintendo also would be making their games for it, both their mobile and home console game studios would be working on this one new platform, with the potential for more form factors to be a part of that whole platform as newer and different devices are required (at least this is what Iwata has said). Smartphones are also pretty small, this could be more tablet sized and made for a more potent gaming experience than you would get on devices that are created by companies that don't specialize in putting together a complete and focused gaming environment for the market.

Yeah sure... with input lag and horrible controls that don't work with core games. lol Try looking at your TV, playing Zelda,COD or Metroid while holding your smartphone sideways, trying to tap virtual buttons on a glass screen and see how awesome it is.

I hope you aren't curious why the Wii U wasn't a success.

I'm very skeptical about all this. What about 4 players, size, battery life. Handhelds are not for me so I'm only interested how it works on tv and game design for handhelds and tv screens is not the same.
Anyway need more info, hype trending down.

How many times are you gonna say that, Kimi?

Again, the same thing was said with the DS in regards of the GBA line. There is no shame to say it's replacing both of them, this is just to avoid a drop in 3DS/WiiU sales.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

To be fair, how many people do you think do that ?

Yes it is...

its a handheld... so its a replacement for the 3DS.
Its like 100x more powerfull than the 3DS.

Its roughly 2-3x more powerfull than the Wii U.... with the rumored Tegra X1.

The Ds also wasn't a successor to the GBA. We all know how that turned out.

Still waiting for the next Game Boy! =P

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

That's because they weren't sure about the DS success. In a different universe, Nintendo DS failed and they released a fourth Game Boy. I guess they are trying to avoid hurting their brand with this new concept.

In my opinion, tradicional consoles are over, the first ones to realize that and move on will be the winners. It's just a matter of time until smart devices and PC take over and I'm expecting Apple to kill and eat Sony and Microsoft in another market. I'm glad Nintendo is trying to do something different instead of just dying.
