Keep dreaming.

How is that a dream? You can expect the s8 and iPhone 7s to compete with this if it's Wii u level of power graphically, easily

Except is not on WiiU levels, even in the worst scenario this console will be substantially more powerful, then there's that thing about, you know, games, wich is the main reason to buy a Nintendo console, this one will probably have the biggest and most varied Nintendo first party output ever thanks to the unified library, appart from the fact that this is a handheld that turns into a homeconsole easily, I don't see how you plan to play with an Iphone 7 in your tv.

Doesn't sound very good to me. Certainly different to anything done before but that's not always a good thing...

Sonic would qualify under the "games to expect" from third parties on a Nintendo console since it's almost non existend that a Sonic game skips a Nintendo console. (Although Sonic Generations wasn't on the Wii but was on the 3DS).

I guess it's just something we're going to have to agree to disagree on then honestly. I just don't like the thinking that Nintendo could never pull off a system that had everything, because they could it's just that they always manage to fuck something up.

Sort of like the last part of your post, sure Nintendo doesn't HAVE to, but they should and could if they wanted to. You're essentially saying "Why should Nintendo have third party games on their system when you can get third party games on other systems", more games on one console is never a bad thing and it would put an end to the whole "Buying a Nintendo system to only get Nintendo games" thing that Nintendo seems to be stuck in right now too.

Eh, we'll have to wait and see then.

Nintendo isn't going to make non Nintendo-like games, I think we can all agree they'd sooner go full mobile.

I'm saying why should Nintendo greatly go out of their way and take such a huge risk trying to be another PS4 when it's proven they can be successful without major third party support. There's nothing wrong with buying a system only for Nintendo games, and really that would still be the only reason to pick up Nintendo's PS4 over Sony's or at all if you already have a third party system which many by this point do. Yes it'd be great if the NX had third party games, just like it'd be great if the PS4/XB1/PC had Nintendo games, but I'm not gonna say they're disappointments just because they don't have every single game, that's too unrealistic an expectation. I'll judge them based on the librarys they do have.

Not sure how I feel about this myself.  If it is slightly weaker than the X1...normally this would be a problem for me.  But given the nature of what the NX would be in this scenario, I may he ok with it so long as it is more powerful than the WiiU.

My short term feelings for this thing is that I want it to run Breath of the Wild with better visual effects and frame rate than the WiiU version on the big screen, so I can feel buying it at launch is justified.  However my long term expectations remain uncertain.  I need more official news from Nintendo themselves...

The detachable motion controllers, obviously.

Is this a joke, or do you genuinely believe that detachable motion controllers make any sense for a portable system?

You asked how it would work, I think it's pretty straight forward.  Wii U gamepad can already do this with a Wii mote.

Looks super intuitive and not expensive at all, you only need a 1000$ phone, and Aple TV, and Hdmi and a gamepad for Iphones (if there is one), then you can play all the unique masterpieces made for Ios in all its glory on your TV.

Portable console with detachable side controllers...

My first console :) I had one of those 200 games in 1 cartridge. Most of them were reskins but there were some classics on there - Arkanoid, Duck Hunt, Tank Battle.

WiiU - 176GF
360 - 240GF
Xbox One - 1.3TF
PS4 - 1.8TF
Stock Tegra X1 (NX) - 512GF

You can't use flops like that to compare the capabilities of machines with different architectures. But nice try.

Less powerful than Xbox one means its should be quite cheap right? If this rumour is correct anyway. I'll head slap hard if Nintendo tries to sell this for $300.

Might be as cheap as an Ouya. ;)

Is tegra SLI possible?

Yes.

Where I think its a bad idea is that firstly, they are going with Nvidia.... Everyone knows that there is a Nvidia tax when you go with them hence why hardly any manufacturers goes with them. Nvidia Tegra is nothing new but the only device I know that runs it is Nvidia shield which is made by... Nvidia! I am sure there are some more but... They sure aren't popular. And that makes me wonder as to why they didn't go with a Snapdragon + Adreno Combo like everyone else does.

Tegra hasn't had as many design wins as nVidia would like... At this point nVidia will likely be very price-efficient with Tegra... So price should be a non issue if nVidia can make up for it in volume and have a decent Halo-product to showcase Tegra's prowess to tempt more OEM's.

not really.  it cost money to shrink.  if it is close to as powerful as an xbox one but in a form-factor the size of a 3DS then it would be very expensive.

No where near the power of an Xbox One, maybe half the power in a best case scenario... But likely a quarter of the performance.

These already exist for handhelds

Dont see why they wouldnt make them for this aswell

You also have Android tablets which can wirelessly stream it's display to a TV.

I have a cheap JXD s7800 tablet around here which is a ripper for emulating, NES, SNES,N64, PS1, Gameboy, DS games AND has HDMI output.

These devices have been around for years. :)

NX weaker than the next iphone, can't wait when the internet explodes.

Yea, if this is true, anyone expecting PS4 level of power will be sorely disappointed.  Most likely something a little more powerful than the Wii U.  Well, unless they want to price this thing at $499.  I also seriously doubt many 3rd parties are going to make ports for such an underpowered device.

Personally, I didn't think the other version, normal console with controller that doubled as a handheld,  would have done quite well, but I think it's better than going full handheld that just connects to your TV.  The handheld market isn't very sustainable now that mobile gaming has taken most of the casuals away.
