Yes...all we've seen is a Standard PS4 but if you've been listening to sony reps, they're saying it's NOT a PS5. So it's a mid level console with upgraded specs...which um...logically would increase VR functionality if there is an increase in terra flops. So unless Sony wants to ailenate 40 Million customers and only make a new game format available on PS NEO, it's going to be a premium ps4 that supports all PS4 software in some capacity.

Scorpio has been said concretely that it is trying to put an end to generations. It makes sense. They don't want to send their install base down back to 0 with every new console. That's the premise of Scorpio.

The fact of the matter is, if NX adopts x86 and has at least 8 GB of Ram, it'll be fine for a while. 3 years isn't much but again, we still don't know what NX is so we can't say if it doesn't have a plan to make sure it doesn't become obsolete in the near future, most notably, the cloud gaming patent.

neo is ps4.5.  at some point the orignal ps4 will have to be dropped,.. it's not going to be sony's last console ever for all of eternity.

ps4: 2013 - 2016 premium model.  2016 - 2019 - base model.  2019 - no longer supported

ps4 neo: 2016 - 2019 premium model.  2019 - 2021 - base model.  2021 - no longer supported

ps4 trinity: 2019 - 2021 premium model.  2021 - 2024 - base model.  2014 - no longer supported

ect and so forth.

same plan as scorpio maybe depending on which statement you beleive.  "the end of generations".

and has,.. vr on neo can have a higher framerate on neo but vr is required to be a stable 60 fps on the original ps4.

so all i'm saying is in 2016 the NX (if it launches close to original xbox one specs) might be too low to port to since the rest of the guys are a half gen (or more) ahead of them.

Fair enough

“It’s not a slump, it’s intentional. They come to market, they do really well, and then they sort of exit the market for a period of time”.

Is he really saying that the droughts/the third place performance is intentional? I highly doubt that this was their plan.

- "If you have the heart of a true winner, you can always get more pissed off than some other asshole."

So they took the most irrational people ("believers") to talk about the future of Nintendo? Seriously, that quote is written as if directly stolen from a VGC thread.

"We never want to count Nintendo out."

What did they publish for Wii U?

This stuff is getting tiresome.

It's not like the sales really spiked though. I think it's a great plan for Nintendo to drive sales of their HW and SW through a precense on mobile, but it's not like most of those playing Nintendo games on mobile will get out and buy the NX. Not even 50% of them will, not 25% either... Do you honestly Nintendo will see Wii like sales again by trying to appeal to the "casual" market again? I'm genuinly curious =)

The only reference point we've got as of now is the UK where sales more than doubled. If that isn't a real spike, then I don't know what to tell you.

I could ask you the same question: Do you honestly believe Nintendo will see Wii-like sales by trying to appeal to the... let's call it PS/Xbox market for simplicity's sake?

It just might be that following PS/Xbox or casuals are both day dreams when it comes to going back to Wii numbers, like the hula hoop craze somethings are a one off, it reminds me of the  trainer of Pharlap an Australian racehorse who was considered the worlds best during the great depression, after it's death in the USA , he then spent the rest of his life trying to find another Pharlap.

Question what is so wrong with a Nintendo console that caters to both 3rd party games and First party , they don't have to be mutualy exclusive.

Well, they said they never WANT to count them out. But if they have to...

What it really means is "LOL we had already counted them out before we knew what their next machine is, but we obviously aren't going to say that because it would make us look incredibly biased."

I don't consider the lack of such games a negative thing, quite the opposite actually.

I am in the majority, it's just that the majority doesn't post on forums.

Same old story with you, fella. After all these years, you still haven't decided

Blaming 3rd parties for being biased and at the same time claiming that the majority of Nintendo console owners aren't into 3rd party games.

I roll my eyes every time you and others claim that 3rd parties are biased and want Nintendo to fail (lol). That doesn't make any sense. If a publisher estimate that a Wii U release will be profitable they'll make it. On Wii lots of 3rd party titles were profitable and because of that Take-Two released over 40 Wii games as Mbolibombo pointed out.

With the exception of EA (BF3, NFS, Crysis 3 and sports games) and Take-Two (GTA V and sports games) Wii U received every Western multiplat in the beginning. But as those games weren't profitable, naturally it wouldn't be sustainable for these companies to continue their full support unless something changed as for instance sales improving a lot. It hasn't anything to do with them being biased against Nintendo. They go where the money is.

Multiplats don't sell great on (Nintendo) consoles unless there's a huge install base but it's not like 3rd parties never support Nintendo (all games below was on Wii U as of May 6, 2014).
