Forums - Sales Discussion - Is the Xbox One dying faster than the 3DS? Is XOne overtracked?

Xbox brand is far from dead. However Xbox One is fading. I doubt it will cross 35+ million before Xbox Scorpio releases.

Not to mention that XboxOne is a complete failure in Japan.....
I see the Xbox brand dying little by little.
As for the 3ds, I´d say that if Nintendo keeps launching games for it, it may well stay in the market for one or two more years.

The XBO is the best selling Xbox system when launches are alligned. The 3DS is shaping to be the worst selling Nintendo handheld.

Now, I don't think the XBO will outsell the 360 (it will sell much less in Europe, and don't even mention Japan), but it could outsell the 3DS, since the Chinese console market was just opened and the Western market is bigger than ever. Now, where is the 3DS doing badly? In the West. And it won't ever release in China.

Putting your hope on the Chinese market is a bad idea. Playstation dominates China's console gaming community.

Let's look at this way, to hit 35 million by Scorpio launch, the X1 would have to sell about 15 million units in about 18 months. Given that it's sold about 20 million up to this point (32 months on the market). The X1 would have start selling 30% - 40% better than as it has already to reach for that mark.

If X1 doesn't start picking up any new momentum, it may not even cross 25 million by the Scorpio release.

If downward trends continue for X1, X1 including Scorpio may not even hit 35 million lifetime, period. All depends on the lifecycle of the OG X1 model, One S, Scorpio and a Xbox 2.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Considering MS never give actual sale numbers, then the alignment of numbers between X1 and 360 are probaly just retail store shipments. X1 is likely less than 20m comsumer base.

Yeah at this point we cannot go by VG Xb1 numbers at all.

PS4 has been adjusted by the hundreds of thousands to even a million because of Sony announcing sales updates. Last we heard of shipments was that it was 'close' to 10 million. And then bundling it with 36- and now no shipment information whatsoever. We can only really assume it's around 20 million maybe a little more maybe a little less.

PC gaming is the biggest  gaming market on China. Really big because was the only way to play. Now that consoles are launching on the country, it is a bad thing for Microsoft to release all their  games for the PC with such a big market on the country.

If there is a place where Play Anywhere would really affect, in a negative way, the sales of the Xbox One. This place is China.

Let's be serius.

I talked about this since EVER, i talk about years ago. I said many times that XBO was gonna have a similar life like 3DS, and people always said this was a stupid comparation...

Now, if we think about this, it really isn't. XBO got insane promotion, it was sold for some crazy price like under $200 with in bundle 1 billion of games in 2015, with those promotion and deals, people should understand that who wanna buy an XBO, most likely thanks those promotion, ALREADY BOUGHT IT.

Pricedrop effect at this point are always gonna be less effective with those promotion. And basically, exclusives at this point doesn't matter anymore considering that now there aren't XBO exclusives, but MICROSOFT exclusives, and in general XBOX exclusives have not the same impact like one time (you just need to see Halo...)

At this point really, the only thing which can save XBO from an immense drop for those years to come are the new version, aka Slim and Scorpio (If Scorpio is really an XBO and not a new generation...), but even so, this won't be much difference compared to a XL or New 3DS version, which just made a temporaney boost... in others word yes, XBO gonna have the same drop as 3DS.

It could be overtracked but idoubt its below 20ml. I don't think its dying faster the 3DS because it still has a chance to outsell it.

Seriusly? How? 3DS is gonna sell most likely +70 million

At this point XBO will be lucky to sell 50 million, if Scorpio is the new generation then it won't even sell 40 million..........
