Really guys? A simple google search would have sufficed. Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gekijōban_Zero

Nintendo has so many great games and franchises that could be made into a great or fun movies, but I guess we'll have to settle for Pokemon and Fatal Frame ...

I thought you meant the Hollywood movie that is being made:

The op should have been more clear, though.

That's why it should have been posted in the original post to begin with, especially because you knew that it wasn't common knowledge.

I thought google searches would yield the answer...

It belongs to both Nintendo and Tecmo Koei.

Nintendo only have licensing rights

According to this, they co-own future games in the series, though. Several new Project Zero/Fatal Frame 2: Wii Edition trailers; Fatal Frame IP now officially co-owned by Nintendo | Rely on Horror

tecmo and Nintendo co own the franchise, that's why every game since the wii is on Nintendo platforms. Nintendo should push this franchise, a lot of wasted potential.

The problem is sales potential. Fatal Frame, which I'm sure has its fan base, has never really been a big seller even before Nintendo's purchase of the license. It's unfortunate, but it'll be difficult to create that bigger fan base without some kind of drastic shift in the direction of the series and even then that's a challenge. It's not easy to pull off a Resident Evil 4.

No sign of the Hollywood version on IMDB, so I assume it's a dead duck.

IMO on Nintendo platforms the franchise has reached its full potential. The only way for it to reach a wider audience is to go multi-platform. But that's not about to happen. And even if it did it seems too niche to go much further. At least being on Nintendo the financial costs are shared.

Tecmo Koei can make Fatal Frame games because they know that Ninteno will share half of any losses they'll get.
