Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One S ranked as the top pre-order product at GameStop Corp.’s online division this week due to building demand.

 This week, the Xbox One S 2TB console ranked as the No. 1 best-selling pre-order product at GameStop.com.

The Xbox One S is a console 40 percent smaller than the current Xbox One and includes a 2TB hard drive, 4K Ultra HD video, High Dynamic Range, a streamlined controller and vertical stand.

It will be sold Aug. 2.

In the fourth quarter, the Xbox business declined nine percent between Apr. and June compared to the year prior.

Xbox Live members increased to 49 million, up 33 percent from one year ago.

Very interesting. Im sure the Slim will be a bigger success than the launch X1.

Says alot about those saying it wont sell due to Scorpio announcement. I think the Slim is timed perfectly.

I think its timed well also but I think saying it will surpass launch X1 is not realistic.  Mostly because of Scorpio BTW.

Not surprised considering a lot of those are existing users looking to upgrade.

Being the biggest pre order doesn't really say a whole lot. What other pre orders are they comparing to etc.

Did it take number 1 in sales spot or preorder spot?  Title is confusing to the article posted. 

Indeed. I believe we'll see a large boost to sales over two weeks, followed by an impressive dip after others begin buying those trade-in consoles from Gamestop instead of new ones that count towards actual sales figures.

Read the wording from the PR. It was number one in the pre order charts and for one week.

It would be devastating if the X1S wasn't at the top of the preorder charts this close to launch, so this isn't surprising in the least.

The title makes it seem as though it was the number 1 on sales chart at gamestop but article suggest it's the number 1 selling preorder item.
