This has to stop.

It can't be the norm of every discussion about certain attacks around the globe to put the blame first on islam without even knowing what is going on. I've seen this way too often in the recent times on this site and mostly followed by the same people.

The consequences of such behaviour is the spread of false informations and denunciation of certain believes and groups.

The death of people is shocking to everyone and this is something I don't even have to point out, hopefully. Place blame where it is deserved. Otherwise this is just another witch hunt.

I just want to point to the forum rules:

  1. Insults and flaming. Attacking other users for any reason is never acceptable.
    • You should avoid:
      • Insulting a person's religion, religious beliefs, race, sex, sexuality, nationality, political beliefs, gaming preferences, etc. Debate is encouraged, as is civil disagreement, but respect the beliefs and opinions of others.
      • Insulting any group without proper justification.
      • Using any racial or sexuality-based slurs, even if you are not using them maliciously.
      • Insulting other users, including calling them fanboys, trolls or any other name-calling.
      • Disparaging, insulting, or baiting comments about users who are not participating in the thread.
      • Making highly offensive comments about people outside the site (though greater leniency will be shown for comments about non-members).
      • Inciting abuse or harassment - of anyone. This includes attempting to discredit any user based on their preferences.
      • Similarly, avoid discussing the user who created the thread in a negative, insulting, or accusational fashion, rather than discussing the thread topic itself. If you feel a topic is baiting, trolling or rule-breaking, report it.
      • Taunting banned members (in threads or on their/other's wall).
    • All the previous rules apply to the forums as well as every other venue of this website. That includes User Walls, Personal Messages, Game Walls, and the like.
    • Moderators will look at overt discrimination very harshly. Blatant forms of racism, sexism, homophobia, or any other sort of hatred towards a group of people(s) will not be tolerated, and will be met with firm moderation.

I beg the mods for a more stricter observation of such behaviour.

The reason for this thread is this one: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=218846&page=1

Wasn't the guy insulting muslims in that thread an alt that ended up being banned anyway?

Funny how the dude(or girl, gender equality) is too much of a whimp to say it on their actual profile.

also OP, I'm awfully sorry but the politics threads(and a few other categories) are not moderated as much as other threads. Mods are typically in gaming threads(as this is a gaming website), but it's obvious that we need a mod to help out in the politics area. I'd love to do it, but it's obvious that a miracle would need to occur for the mods to ever allow me to do something like that.

Just let time carry on and see what the mods plan to do. I'd love to see a dude like Ganoncrotch or Pokoko go ahead and be mods mainly for those types of threads.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

The biggest issue you have here is mods know gaming, but they know very little about faiths, cultures, sects, ideologies etc. It is harder for them to moderate things which they know very little of.

IMO, if you do not have the knowledge to justly moderate any topic, then those topics should not be allowed. Just today we've had a moderator call a group of people worse than terrorists / murderer's because he thinks they are ALL being pc.

This refers to more than one person.

Sarcasm is one of my few talents. I don't want to become an escape goat for a witty or funny comment

So you say that mods should ban users for pointing out someone's religion, in that case the Munich attacker being a muslim born in Germany. Do you have something against free speech? Since when did pointing out someone's religion has become so offensive that you ask to be treat it as a hate crime?

Nice strawman. Setting him up then knock him down.

Why are you specifically mentioning Islam when, by your definition of "scapegoating" there are many groups that are often treated with less respect in the forums?

Look at "The reason for this thread is this one" in my OP.
