Which one is your favourite?

OoT 160 58.82%

THPS2 22 8.09%

SC 19 6.99%

GTAIV 30 11.03%

I haven't played all of these games 23 8.46%

I haven't played any of these games 18 6.62%

Total:272

I'll rate the games that deserve to be on 98+

1. Grand Theft Auto IV
2. Soul Calibur
3. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2

I know people have an opinion of their own, but I think Grand Theft Auto IV is getting bashed unfairly left and right. It was the first GTA of the seventh generation and it was Rockstar's way to showcasing what they could do and where they would go with the series. Story was much more mature from the previous ones, so it was obvious a lot of people weren't gonna get it or weren't gonna like it. Gameplay might have been a mixed bag, but the story is where it was at. I don't think many got the main idea of it. I'm not saying it's my favorite GTA entry, but apart from being a game, it looked like a technical showcase. It felt like something new. If the game had the same graphics as Vice City Stories while being on a seventh gen console, it would get even more flak.

I haven't played GTAIV or Tony Hawk 2, unfortunately. Both sitting on the shelf waiting to be played.

The remaining two are both brilliant and deserve high marks. SoulCalibur is arguably the best fighting game ever made, with revolutionary fighting mechanics, a deep and rewarding campaign, and gorgeous visuals.

Ocarina is arguably the best game ever made, with outstanding level design, inventive controls, spectacular music, engaging and addictive gameplay, and all-time great sound design. It's a true masterpiece, on a technical, artistic, and mechanical level.

None of these four games deserve these high ratings.
But if I had to choose one of them, it would be Grand Theft Auto IV.

Ocarina Of Time easily.More than deserved the score it got. After all, it is one of the best games of all time, if not the one.

Why are people comparing these games to the games of today? That's like saying The Last of Us deserves a lower score because The Last of Us 3 will be a better game when it releases in 10 years.

Yeah, I agree completely. Not only that, but many are judging the game either by the metric you stated, or judging the game having played it in recent years, which obviosly will have a much lesser impact. This score was awarded, and rightfully so, back when the game was released(duh), which was revolutionary. It was a game with no par, being groundbreaking epic....

Its just a bit sad people saying that this game is overrated when most of them played them either the 3DS remake or emulated a few years back because they were too young to play when it released and feel the joy of playing back then.

OoT obviously.
And none of those 3 games deserves a 98.

OoT doesnt deserve the 99 either.

That is a opinion I strongly disagree with then.If it were me, I would have awarded it 100, but 99 is good enough!

1 - GTAIV - GTA3 gave us a huge 3d city, GTA4 actually filled it with things to do and life into it, don't understand the hate.
2 - Ocarina of Time - Amazing game, one of the best leaps into 3 from any franchise and has some great touch ups over the year, the 3ds version of it should be the go to version for anyone complaining about controls for this game in 2016
3 - Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 - A good title which added the manual to the franchise, still though definitely not as good as THPS3 in my opinion and has aged very poorly compared to 3/4 and Thug1/2. On top of the Playstation version of this game, Vicarious visions version of THPS2 is amazing on the GBA in lovely isometric 3d action.
4 - Soul Calibur - It was a good game, deserves its score for what it managed to achieve back with the power of the Dreamcast, really was a gem in that consoles fairly ragged crown, that said compared to GTA/OoT and THPS2 it just doesn't offer the same amount of content and gameplay.

I believe that people's issue with the scores are that they were inflated to begin with, not that they have become inflated over time.

I cant say for the other 3, but for Zelda thats just merely their opinion, not a fact. For me it is easilydeserving of that score, and aparently for the reviewers.Heck, even by todays standard it would be that far off, easily staying in the 90s.

Nope, what's really sad is someone attacking other peoples opinions and saying they aren't valid just because they disagree.

So my remark is "sad" because I am of this opinion(and being in my right to say this in the way I want without really insulting anyone) but your isnt?

"This. Saying 'they were that good at the time' seems kind of silly especially since some people here even played them at that time."

A bit of double-satndard, dont you think?

I can fully understand when people dont like the game.I mean, i dont like GTA while most people do.And while everyone has the right to say whatever they want about the game, I personally feel silly for people to say that the game is overrated and shouldnt have had the 99 score when this is the ONLY game to receive such score. So this is the only game reviewers were more biased about? The same goes for the other 3 games.Never played them, and while I could potentially score them lower based on my experiences, the game must have done something right to have been awarded such scores.Being biased only goes so far.

Ocarina, easily.

I won't attempt to discredit the other games though. GTA4 was a marvel at time of release, and THPS2 showed that skating games weren't a one-hit wonder. I never played the original SoulCal, but the subsequent games were all mostly great; it had to have come from somewhere good.
