Which one is your favourite?

OoT 160 58.82%

THPS2 22 8.09%

SC 19 6.99%

GTAIV 30 11.03%

I haven't played all of these games 23 8.46%

I haven't played any of these games 18 6.62%

Total:272

As you may or may not know, there are very few titles that have managed to receive a 98 average on Metacritic. Namely those games are:

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (PS)

Soulcalibur (DC)

Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3, 360)

Additionally, there has only ever been one game to receive an average of 99:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)

The question is, how would you rank these games? I assume that Ocarina of Time will be at the top of the list for many, but I am going to ask this question anyways. I am going to give a little explanation for each game as well.

1. Soulcalibur - I originally got my Dreamcast in 2011, and Soulcalibur was one of the first games that I attempted to play on it. I fell in love with it, and enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I played that game until I had every single unlockable obtained. It was a blast to play.

2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time -  I previously dabbled with this game since I first got in 2010, but the first time I truly started playing this game was this year, although I have had numerous hiatuses to play other games/finish schoolwork. I do think that it has been a good game so far, but I have only just made it to the point when Link becomes an adult. Hopefully the best is still yet to come.

3. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 - I have only played the N64 version, so I cannot say what the PS version has over the one that I played, but I really enjoy THPS2 and 3. The game is very, very fun to play in short bursts. Don't let the sports stigma fool you, these games are fun for anyone.

4. Grand Theft Auto IV - I have only played a little bit of this game, but I think that the other GTA games are better. This game is in no way bad, but there are very obvious things about it that make it last on the list for me.

OoT obviously.
And none of those 3 games deserves a 98.

Well, obviously in today's standards they are outdated, but in the context of their time they were very impressive.

I've only played Ocarina of Time and GTAIV, but Ocarina of Time is much better to me. GTAV is much better than IV, so if anything that one deserves to be at 98 instead of IV.

I don't think so, Soul Calibur maybe, GTA IV, not at all.

Soooo, all 90's games with a tiny body of reviews (I'm guessing), vs a late oughts game with (I'm guessing) a much larger pool of reviews. Seems flawed. BUT. They ARE all beloved games. I personally have played them all extensively....OK I'm gonna vote. Secret ballot.

OoT doesn't even deserve over 90. I have no idea why people harp on about this game, the controls were enough to make me rage quit. As for the other games i would put them in the 80's at best. GTA4 is probably my least favourite GTA game and is probably a good example of critics being paid for high scores.

Considering where we are, I think the outcome of the poll is obvious.

Personally, Soulcalibur totally deserves that score. It was an absolute revelation for me and blew away every fighting game at the time. I didn't even care that much for fighting games before that. Only DoA 2: Hardcore came close in terms how much I put into it.

I think ocarina of time is the better game ^_^

1. SC
2. THPS2
3. OOT
4. GTA IV

Idk if there is a better example of why metascore doesn't mean jack shit than GTA IV.
