Forums - Gaming Discussion - Terrible Areas that Games Should have Removed Entirely

Sections of any game that makes me "walk around".

Holy crap, you made me remember these, they really must be up there with random encounter-filled overworlds as my least favorite sections in videogames.

I'm now filled with determination.

Ehhhh, I don't really like those games to be honest, tried the first game and didn't grip me in any way, Paper Mario is more my style. The good Paper Marios I mean, not those ones.

I get what you mean.

The Thousand Year Door was a garbage game. Sticker Star is where it's at.

(waits for war)

Have you actually played TTYD or are you just saying this to be an edgy contrarian with a very special opinion? Anyway, Paper Mario 64 is still the best, and Sticker Star is an horribly designed bland fest, beats me how can you like that game better than the originals.

I was being sarcastic...I thought I gave it away at the end.

Anyhow, I have played TTYD. I loved it. It was spectacular. I completed it 10 times as a kid.

As for the N64 version, it was great as well. I'd say it's equal to TTYD.

Sticker Star on the other hand is still good. Personally, I think it's given too much hate.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

"Cortana" in Halo 3. So much Flood. So aggravating.

Perfect game if it wasn't for that level.

Also "The Library" in Halo CE.

Poison/swamp like areas in the Souls series. I get that some are more egregiousa than others but all of them could be absent and no one would complain. Seriously these areas suck all the fun out of the games and replace them with green and brown annoyances.

Bravely Default's Chapter 5 through 8.

Also like IkePoR mentioned, all that walking.

For all the people saying Cortana Mission in Halo 3 I disagree, I love it for the challenge and sense of danger. I also believe that this is one of those missions that you can Speed Run to the end without fighting many enemies.

MGS V: TPP

Pretty much all the [TOTAL STEALTH / EXTREME / SUBSISTENCE] missions. What the hell. I think what would have been better was if they were an optional game mode for every mission instead of making them their own standalone chapter and making us replay some of the most frustrating levels with a handicap. I guess this isn't really an area but still.

Area wise, I really don't like Tetanus Warren in Borderlands 1. Really, really dislike.

Sweet Jesus, how could I have forgotten this!
The first 4 chapters were really good, but then... SOOOOO MUUUUUUCH PADDING!!!!
It dragged the game straight to the ground for me.
Still a good JRPG, but it could have been sooo much better if it weren't for that, and of course, the stupidly, convolute plot involving time travel.

Playing through Kingdom Hearts again, I'm reminded that Atlantica and the 100 Acre Woods are a repeated mistake across Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 where both games would have been better off without either world.

Atlantica already wasn't very good in Kingdom Hearts. Swimming combat was wonky, and the two stage Ursula boss fight was pretty crap. The first half is a gimmick fight, and the second half is basically just mashing the X button by her giant face while waiting to heal when needed. Then they found a way to make it worse in Kingdom Hearts 2 by making it a musical. Technically an optional musical, but one you had to endure if you wanted Ultima Weapon and to experience the whole game. The developers just need to drop the fascination with Atlantica and for all that is good in this world, not bring it back in Kingdom Hearts 3.

100 Acre Wood is mini-game spam using characters that are meant to have appeal to five year olds with their nonsensical fears and communications. This one just needs to GTFO because I really don't want to collect more pages in the KH3 just so I can play more shoddily put together mini-games meant exclusively to pad the experience. It has yet to improve either game it has been a part of, and locking abilities and useful items behind crap mini-games is just unnecessary.

While I'm at it, Disney Town in Birth By Sleep. Crappy music AND crappy mini-games. Just what nobody wanted or needed.
