Forums - Gaming Discussion - My Biggest Issue With Modern Pokemon

For me the biggest issue was ever how the hell they only knew 150 species (including even fossils) forever before gen 1, and then they can double the number of species and then triple or even go 5x more in a few years.

That was one of my biggest issues after the first couple gens. But the point made in the thread about how they look too anime for my liking is something I never thought of until now and I do see it. I stopped really caring after gen one and only played gen two once.

I think I didn't cross gen 3 as well... and I do really liked the concept of the first game and the pokemon design (but some odd balls like magneton)

Around the Network

That's pretty arbitrary in my opinion. I could just do the same but on reverse: pick a round, simple Pokemon like Digglet or Seel and say it looks dull and boring in comparison to Tyrunt or Skrelp.

In the anime, I could agree. But in the game there's always dull Pokemon, and cool Pokemon.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

What is happening to Pokemon is happening to allll Japanese games - Overindulgence in Anime garbage. Pokemon feel less like that words animals like in gen1/2 and more like ... Digimon. C'mon, Lucario looks like a Digimon.

Because you can only design stuff so much. Till you inadventaly copy something else. Mega Evolution was complained about too. Because Digimon did it first. But what other adjective describes "better". That already hasn't been used. Digimon has used Perfect, Super, Ultimate, as it is. What else could you say. Improved evolution? A dog like Pokemon, is gonna look like one. Then you want it to stand up? Then you make the paws human length, for fighting. Oops, they copied Renemon. If they do pokemon that can merge evolve. Then people would be complaining about ripping off Dragonball Z. And Digimon again. With Jogress (DNA) evolution. That's the only thing they haven't done yet. Besides add 4 stage evos.

I agree there are bad looking Gen one Pokémon, but to me there are fewer of them compared to later gens. I also feel the coolest looking Pokémon are also Gen one. The legendary birds and the starters looked great and of course MewTwo. I am a little biased 😜

I can't judge you since I'm just as guilty.
