We live in a digital foundry world now. if the NX isn't up to par, the media/console warriors/trolls will give the NX bad perception problems all generation.

This is one of the reasons why power is way more important imo.

Can't we have both?
I don't know why only one option is possible :(

Intel Core i7 8700K | 32 GB DDR 4 PC 3200 | ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming | RTX 3090 FE| Crappy Monitor| HTC Vive Pro :3

The most important thing for Nintendo is to get families onboard again. Whatever that entails, they need to do it. The word "casual" incites terror, vomit and severe distain on boards like these and with "core gamers" but those are the people they need to win back. Nintendo fans are going to be there for the ride no matter what. It's those casuals that they have to grab again if they want to do well with the NX.

The other gamers, they're (imo) a cynical, miserable bunch and Nintendo doesn't need them. They won last generation without them and they don't need them next generation either.

Both are important, but right now. Power. We know that there are games in the work, we also know that the console needs to be powerful to have full 3rd party dev support. A weak launch with more power wins over a strong launch with weak hardware. One has long terms sales because the system has longevity for developers to work with. The other is a short term success and then it's time for the developers to move on with the other more powerful consoles. Which have a much higher market base combined. Unfortunately that is the mentality of the gamers and that is where the money comes in for the developers. In no current world is the other option valid unless they plan a new console or upgrade within 2 years time.

I'd rather power. I've not been all that into buying the weaker system all the time and with Breath of the Wild, it shows that Nintendo can actually do something with that bit more hardware. I really just want them to put in that bit more power, that alone would get me to grab more titles from them rather than going for low res, low fps titles that have a few fun gimmicks that burn me out after a few days.

I love animal crossing for example but after a while it became the same thing over and over with little going for me. I ended up playing Stardew Valley and that gave me more to do and changed a time went on, despite the visuals I still got more without getting burned out as quick.

From a visual standpoint I love Ark since that game is about as close as I can get to a MH like game, only I get better visuals along with crafting and being able to roam across a masive map/world, with MH I only go to a few towns, kill the same few monsters to scrap together some gear that resembles said monster, all while playing with less power. I;d love for Nintendo to give us a proper decent looking MH game that expands and delivers new content, bigger worlds, new mechanics, more freedom, better visuals etc. I'd buy that so damn fast.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

This pretty much to me.

Nintendo wont steal the hardcore audience playing CoD, GTA n shit. They have their audience, they need to bring back audience they once had and they need to find a way to sell their console to people who want to play their games (reading these posts about going third party on these forums we know a lot want to play them). Hardware is not the case, if hardware is all that the Scorpio will kill the competition but they wont because they dont have the software to do it. With a good price, they can attract buyers easy especially combined with a great lineup the first year.

How low of a price do you think Nintendo needs to go? X1/PS4 are already at 220-300 used and 300-350 new.

While these two things aren't strictly mutually exclusive, it wouldn't make much sense for Nintendo to pursue both. Nintendo doesn't need the extra horsepower to make great games nor does it need to compromise for third parties which are notoriously fickle and abusive. Microsoft and Sony have, over the years, made concession after concession to third parties to the point where each company is beholden to them. This is EA, Activision, Ubisoft, etc. we're talking about here. All those companies known for cynical business practices. Why create an environment tailored to them?

So the answer, for me, is strong launch lineup and continued, regular support for a system with moderate specs and a low price point. Nintendo continues to be master of its domain and fans get great software at an affordable price.

Lineup. Look at PS4, it got Call of Duty, Fifa and Assassin's Creed in its first year.
