Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What do you think is more important for Nintendo NX to have, powerful hardware or great first year lineup?

Which do you feel is more important for NX's success

Console Power 95 28.11%

Launch Lineup 212 62.72%

See results 31 9.17%

Total:338

Which do you think will be more of a determining factor for the NX's success, powerful hardware or a great first year lineup?

Obviously both are important to a certain degree, but which will get more people on board and therefore make the platform enticing to third party devs.

I gotta go with launch lineup, personally. Great games make people want systems, and that's all there is to it in my book. I don't want another Wii gen where the tech basically stands still, but I also don't need a Scorpio or Neo $500 system (or whatever the final prices will be). A good bump up from the Wii U is all I need.

So what say you?

Lineup

Wii U's horrible release rates killed it. Power does matter, but it won't if games take forever to release

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

We already know that games are coming so I'm gona say power, Nintendo better have those supplemental devices ready at launch to make the thing more powerfull than whatever console is currently the strongest in the market.

Which ones? Just Dance, and LoZ are the only two I know (and I think a game had an NX logo in the trailer, but don't know what that is).

I'm extremely weary about the launch lineup.

Normally I'd say the lineup. But if NX isn't as powerful or in the same ball park as NEO and Scorpio, they'll be right back in the same place they were with the Wii U for 3rd Party Support, so I'll say Power.

I don't like that question. Those things are not equal and also not mutually exclusive. But you ask that question if they were.

That said, it's obviously powerful hardware. To quote a wise man: "A powerful console will eventually get software, a bad console will forever be bad". It's 1 year with a good but not great launch lineup vs 7 years with a bad console. Seems kinda obvious which to pick.

You know the 360 and PS3 are still getting games right now right? I doubt power will be all that important in the overall decision if NX gets 3rd party games.

Gamecube was more powerful than the PS2.

So? You do know that having a powerful console is just one ingredient. You also have to be a competent console manufacturer that gives 3rd parties a proper environment and incentive to leverage that power. That's why Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft fail when they try to do it and why Sony doesn't.

It's not like the Gamecube failed because it was too powerful. It failed because a certain company behind it didn't know how to leverage it.

It needs practically everything going for it, especially considering where Nintendo is at in the console space.
