Forums - Sony Discussion - I Told You Sony Should Heavily Promote Rise Of The Tombraider

If money was all that decided who got what exclusives - wouldn't Microsoft be absolutely dominating?

You're confused, nowhere in my post did I say or ever imply that.

Yes, Microsoft has metric shit tons of money. They could throw lots of that money around and buy lots of exclusive games. I mean, why not throw a couple billion and buy GTA 6? Because that wouldn't be good business. I hope that helps.

As per the two deals Sony made to get TR console exclusive to their console, I guess they paid in jelly beans or something? Because, you know, in these PR statements where both sides gush about the other, it's entirely common for them to spell out exactly how payments work :)

Sony-  Op says Sony should heavily promote Tomb Raider -  Sony heavily promoted among other things Ghostbusters -  resources are finite

What happened with Ghostbusters is inconsequential to Tomb Raider. They have no correlation.

And to your edit, Ghostbusters is...

A. Sony's property (unlike Tomb Raider)

and B. Rests totally in the laps of Sony Pictures, not Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation).

Tomb Raider is a highly thought of 3rd party game that can/ will bring value to Sony/ Playstation

B) Sony is not the massive conglomerate it once was - all their divisions are critical now and were their various divisions were once 2nd and 3rd cousins, today they are all close brothers - So it is a good deal more consequential today than it would have been a few years ago

Why are people talking about Ghostbusters?

It's funny, it happens in a lot of threads. Something to do with expectations not being met maybe?

OT: That's not heavily promoting. And that cover certainly doesn't scream: Hey here's a new Lara for ya!

The first lady of Playstation accidentally got released on the wrong console first?

Perhaps 'heavily' is overkill but the point is, in threads on here (and on GAF) the majority of people were saying Sony should let it die to teach SE a lesson and I was telling them they SHOULD promote it. That's how you teach SE a lesson. You don't punish someone for making a mistake, you show them why it was a mistake by demonstrating what 'could have been' if they'd made a good business move instead of a risky financial move.
