It's a big release and a known high quality game a lot of their fanbase is looking forward to, of course they'll advertise it. Who cares what some bitter people online thinks they should do :)

In short term finance terms I think the way they launched the game was probably the best they could have done, however in terms of PR and what it done to the rebooted Tomb Raider Franchise... it mostly killed that I think. Sold just 1.24m on the X1 as well and 400k on the X360, I mean even the definitive version of Tomb Raider 2013 on the PS4 sold 1.4m units considering that on the X1 is at .6m they could have been looking at selling 3m+ copies of Rise of the Tomb Raider on the PS4 if it launched at the same time and avoided the PR backlash of taking the bag o cash.
I guess only time will tell and we have to wait to see if there is another Tomb Raider Title in the reboot series to come (think there was some rumours recently)

I almost think some of the more bitter people towards the X1 brand might buy a copy of this out of spite in the logic that they are getting their hands on an exclusive from their rival brand if you get the logic? I'm sure bitter money will be the same on SE's balance sheet though lol.

Getting an Uncharted and Tomb Raider in the same year is great news. So glad this is finally coming to PS4.
Gamers still read videogame magazines? I get why gossip magazines still exists but gaming magazines? Their news are old by the time it hits the stand

No it didn't. It started on PC and was ported to PS1 & Sega Saturn. TR2 and 3 were paid exclusives for Sony consoles.
Sony has nothing more than money to do with the franchise.

It's not a good move by Sony because Sony aren't the ones promoting this. Sony doesn't even own the Official Playstation Magazine. It was owned by Ziff Davis (same as Official Xbox magazine was). And is NOW owned by Future publishing.
I get why people jump to the conclusion that the "official" magazine is owned by them though. I used to think that too. But yeah, Sony IS NOT the one doing the promoting here
As much as I'd like this to succeed, I don't think it will. SE made a bad move making xbox1 timed exclusive and now it's ready to release on the console with 54% market share all the hype and interest has massively burned away. This could of been a mega popular game that really kick started the remake.
