Considering the recent wave of good news about Nintendo, going from the critically aclaimed new Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild stealing the E3 2016 attention, to the endless Pokemon Go miracles, the concern of the Tokyo company arises once again: going third party.

But, what is going third party? For the matter of the current topic, going third party involves that the company should stop doing their own hardware. Parting from that premise, what would be the best course for Nintendo of they stop doing their own hardware? Easy: Mobile and PC.

Let's start. During the last years, we have been ferosious witness of how people is not willing to buy Nintendo hardware to have access to their IPs. In fact, during the launch year of their latest handheld, 3DS, they have to cut the price to sell well. While the current homeconsole Wii U has been pointed to be overpriced.

So, if they have to go third party for whatever reason it fits our narrative, Nintendo needs to fix the first problem: the price entry barrier.

Going multiplatform won't solve that problem as people that wants to access to their games have to spend money in a dedicated videogame machine. On top of that, let's take into consideration that the audience of those machines are different from the audience that caters about Nintendo, thus the existing library won't justify the price entry.

So, what Nintendo need is to have devices that reach everyone, and nothing is better than smartphones and PC's.

We just need to look Pokemon Go success to understand that. Everyone with an smartphone has access to the new game. So, almost everyone.

Of course not every game will fit there. Like the released Xenoblade Chronicles X or the upcoming mentioned Breath of the Wild. For those kind of games, we have the PC.

In the last decade, Nintendo has developed outstanding looking software in underpowered hardware, like Super Mario Galaxy, Skyward Sword or Mario Kart 8, therefore, consumers won't need powerful PC's to be able to run Nintendo offerings. In fact, it will be very doubtful that the PC base will need to upgrade their hardware to be able to play Mario or Zelda.

Having physical releases and Steam special offerings will help Nintendo to be well represented in the new market.

TL;DR In conclusion, if Nintendo had to go third party Mobile and PC will be their best solution as it will eliminate the price entry barrier.
