My point is that someone can't plagiarize something that is commonly used in speeches or in conversations.

In the US, the vast majority of the media is liberal and most of them don't hide it. If you don't believe me, I'm fine with that.

Sure if you want to get into the semantics of the word plagiarism and its practical application here.  However, doesn't change the fact that it is rather pathetic that someone making a speech about someone trying to run for the most important position in his country, and arguably the world, is ripping off words from someone who was doing the exact same thing eight years ago.

Are you serious? The wife of a canidate that copies other's words because she likes 'em versus a canidate who lies constantly. Which one is worse? Which one is the greater issue when selecting a canidate for the US presidency?

There is a fairly big difference between "copying" a greeting such as "hi, how are you doing?" and copying 66+ words of a speech verbatim, if you were to put that speech into plagiarizing test software it would show up instantly as a copy and not original work.

As others have said, if this was a copy of something which is used in day to day speech or as a template somewhere which Michelle used... then point to that rather than suggesting that you can't be plagiarizing if you just copy 66 words directly from something else, that would be enough leeway to be able to copy the majority of Pop music without issue.

It's just a speech though. It's not like she copied her book and changed the title. Seriously, this is harmless and some are acting like she kicked a puppy but yet they're willing to overlook Hillary's constant lying? Ugh. From what I seen from some in this thread, "Trump's old lady copies obama's old lady's speech, so how could he be president? We can't trust him to be president".

I'm not saying that you do any of that and I haven't read each post in this thread. There's so many things that are ass backwards in the US, it's a wonder why people don't walk around backwards and talk like ace ventura did.

Yeah of course in the grand scheme of things it could well be a deliberate ploy to draw the attention away from all the real issues with the reality of Trump in the "White" House, for me it isn't the key reason that should never be allowed to happen but at the same time it's just the icing on the cake of things which are wrong with him, the fact that he can buy his way into such a position with zero knowledge or ability is just terrifying, his staff are great... but they're just paid PR men, there is no real leadership ability there, just his ability to hire the most expensive consultants available.

As for Hilary, aye she isn't a whole lot better in reality, this election and the years that follow are going to be dark times in US history I would think.

I don't think that she's anymore experienced than trump to be honest. Her political career is riddled with scandals. She doesn't even understand email security. She probably doesn't know what national security means. Trump at least ran some businesses and has managed to keep the weaIth he was born into. I would have prefered if both trump and hilary would both become governors first. It would give them both solid experience and it would test the waters while limiting the damage they could do.

Just watched it, pathetic. As expected. I mean, even if Obama's speech was generic, it's sad that you'd want to copy a generic speech. Trump has all that money, get somebody to write her speech if she can't. God knows what Trump will say at his concession speech...if he wins. (vomit incoming)

LMAO

How these clowns are running for presidency.

The American Republican party is torn and desperate. They have a great business man, horrible overall man running for president. And a running mate that's my former governer, of Indiana, running together. Mind's well let Oil and Water run together. America is in for dark times ahead.

I weep for my country.

Those canned entries about the children being the future, LOL

I seriously thought this was lifted from Whitney Houston's song The greatest love of all.

Talking about parents raising you right, children being the future are some of the most generic topics used by not just politicians, but everyone in the public's eye.

She's not even running for office, whats her goal to get these fat bastards in shape?

For those saying that the original was very generic, yes the ideas were not so groundbreaking. However, language is a funny thing. You can say the same things in so many ways and there is literally an infinite amount of utterances. All you have to do is add one more word to a sentence and a new utterance is formed.

But the fact is, having so many words in a row that match someone else's is very unlikely. That's why in college, some professors use software to scan for sentences that are either identical or very similar to published works in order to ensure no plagiarism occurs.

It's just highly unlikely that Melania could have such a similar sequence of words for that paragraph without copying it. I read somewhere that in order to have a 16 word match, the chances were 1 in a trillion. There was a 23 word match in Melania's sentence. You can't just chalk that up to coincidence or the first lady's generic choice of words and themes. Melania plagiarized.

lol, wtf is even happening here.

No way this was unintentional lol. Starting to think that maybe the Trump campaign is just trying to see how little they have to win the presidency. I mean, she even frikkin rick rolled them.

Aside from the speech from last night I'm guessing most of what you guys are posting is fake. I mean, I'm no Trump supporter but I hate when people debate using made up stuff.
