That's a good way to put it. Pokemon also has a show, movies, comics, a card game, etc. while Mario (to my knowledge) only has games. |
Other than the crap live action movie, and crap kids cartoon, yes, Mario only has games.

That is the story of the mainline games, indeed.
Spinoffs on the other hand, it looks like Mario has always had the advantage, even during the initial PokeMania.

It probably depends on the age of the person you ask.
The people who think of pokemon when someone says nintendo are a different breed from me for instance. If you say nintendo I think mario/duckhunt. I've never played a pokemon game in my life but nintendo was an influential part of my life.

Marco....
So people who were in the mid to late 30s or older who grew up with the NES will say Mario.
On the other hand people who are in the late teens to mid-20s who grew up with the Game Boy during the initial Boom will say Pokemon?
Makes sense.

In a near future i imagine those should be the bigger Nintendo series (in term of success, not overall sales): 1) Pokémon 2) Splatoon 3) Mario 4) Smash Bros 5) Animal Crossing |

Not on home consoles. Pokemon has always been king of handhelds though.
It has always slightly irked me that the mainline Pokemon games have never been on home consoles... Perhaps NX will have something to say about it.

Ok that is seriously cool! Hell, most of me and my Dad's coworkers are playing the game and some of them I don't even think have ever even owned a video game console before!
