Forums - General Discussion - "Facebook isn't trying hard enough to increase its diversity"

People need to stop giving this diversity bullshit.
Also, do people STILL believe in the wage gap? My god are people stupid.

Perhaps the bigger issue is that people still use Facebook, a social media network which is ruined with cancerous minion posts, horrendous memes that were never funny, and useless drama.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

As a male working in a predominately female field, nobody has really expressed concern for my representation. But that's fine, because most of the applicants happen to be female, so it makes sense that females have most of the jobs.

We need to ensure equality of opportunity, not equality of results.

I would argue that tech industry has never been lacking equality of opportunity. That is what annoys me, maybe certain job fields are like that, but the tech field rarely seems to care about colour.

I think there are factors that dissuade girls from entering tech fields.  And we should address those factors.  But, facebook and Oculus are not responsible , so we shouldn't expect them to fix the situation.

You can't be racist towards white people, silly boy.

"52 percent of its US employees are white, 38 percent are Asian, 4 percent are Hispanic and 2 percent are Black"

Based on US population

White - 63% (-11%)
Black - 12% (-10%)
Hispanic - 16% (-12%)
Asian - 4% (+34%)

I would not be surprised if Asians accounted for more than 4% at just about any major tech company. I don't see a major issue here unless someone can show evidence of discrimination against non-Asians.

So people are complaining because facebook's hiring policies aren't necessarily racist/sexist and they want them to be more racist/sexist?

Yes.

These diversity laws are pure bullshit in my opinion

What laws are there to promote diversity??

Usually Employment Equality laws do deal with promoting diversity (I do not know what acts or laws may apply to your country), given their main goals are generally to make sure no one is discriminated more than, you should hire this quota.

But I don't understand how that law works in practice, unless it's just a law against discrimination, where anybody who suspects they've been discriminated can bring their case to court.

Really? Because last I checked, whites still made up over 70% of America's population. If anything, Asians are being over-represented.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).
