It looks like it will become more of a Russia than an Islamic state. But this only speeds up what was gonig to happen anyway.

Guys, do we seriously believe, that 104 turk soliders decided to takeover the country?

This is staged.

Yes. It doesn't necessarily take a lot of manpower. Try to imagine the situation if they got Erdogan. I'm under the impression that they tried but he wasn't where they were expecting him to be. This is basically a coup against Erdogan, and if they got rid of him, things could be quite different.

That said, this is quite convenient for Erdogan. It certainly didn't take him much time to start talking about cleansing the military, which is probably a huge advantage for his regime. Basically there won't be any resistance against him from the military after this.

Very amateurish coup, to the point that one must ask the question if it was staged by Erdogan to grab more power and marginalize the Gülen faction.

That was my thought too, so many top military personel supposedly involved and that was the best they could do? smells more than a little fishy. NATO must be asking themselves do they realy need Turkey in there at the moment. The last 5 years or so must be making them think twice about this.

The Generals and most of the high commanding officers had no idea what was happening. There would've been a different conclusion if the entire army was there in full force.

It seems like they were driving around in two tanks, one van, one jet, and a chopper.

Coups in Turkey are generally good and dispose of corrupt politicians. The military always gave control back to civilian govt after a while, unlike say South America or Arab World where the generals become dictators for life.

Meh, unlikely. Not quite the situation around for wishful thinking. Plus Kurdish factor.

For the region to go down completely out of control along with considerable chunk of Eurasian energy market, you need to take down two major oil producers there (Saudi Arabia and Iran) and one major oil pipeline to Europe (Turkey). Since Iran is out of question now within any reasonable deadlines, that leaves us two, that'd be the first one it seems. Three little niggers walking in the zoo, a big bear hugged one and then there were two...

At least that'd be absolutely worst scenario. Those who doesn't like Erdogan (who does?), do not start pardaing just yet, that's not a good news for everyone around, d'oh.

Moderated for "ten little niggers", I guess? A classic line from classic novel not used in insulted manner? Have you censored eveything that doesn't match rules for political correctness, or just that? Miguel, you're insulting my intellectuality.

2839 soldiers arrested. They'll probably all by dead by next week

Democracy is so sad, it's so easy to fool people, this was pure theater but now this son of a ***** is stronger than ever...

2016 is being a terrible year for my faith in humanity, I gotta be honest.

Really redicolous, 256 people just died in Turkey and our goverment still defends it or is silent. Turkey shouldnt be allowed to apply for EU membership at all at this point, and this new visa deal should be cancelled too.
If the same thing would happen in Russia or China the Western media and politicians would be all over it.

"The Turkish government has embarked on a purge of the judiciary following the botched coup, state TV reports, in the first sign of how last night could increase Erdogan's authoritarian rule.

NTV said 2,745 judges had been removed from duty, following a decision of the High Council of Judges.

Five members of the High Judiciary Court Board were also removed. "

What a surprise, now everything happens like Erdogan needs it for the full power in Turkey. Replace positions in military and judicature with people he wants, newspapers and other sources he didn't like were already muzzled and I guess next are politicians not on his side.
