The comments here make me realize its not the government who doesn't care and the not the media who doesn't care but the general populace as well. Our city was peaceful before what USA and Pakistan did and created Taliban and radicalized Afghans. We did not make news the first time it happened so don't say its normal so no news. I blame Pakistan first and foremost as well. But Our people are not barbaric or war loving. They are peace loving and have been living peaceful lives before 9/11 the city used to be called little London and little Paris. It was a premiere spot for even the British. Its not the norm but the last decade and half is an exception. That's why no news is annoying. If 9/11 didn't occur but the Taliban ran rampant in Pakistan and Afghanistan and this was all new to the region, then I'm sure none of you would have cared either way. I don't think you would care if the only place Isis terrorized or Taliban terrorized was Asia. For example no such thing happens in Iran but if it did happen and killed hundreds, would it make the news? Terrorism is not the norm in the region as a while as well it was not existant in the better part of the 20th century. Our government is also lousy and is the same as you guys around the world. You think you are superiors and you think of people in the middle east and south east Asia as barbarians and don't care what happens here. Now that its happening in Europe you think the threat is increasing but it was always there you just ignored it because you don't care about Asia and Africa. You were essentially invaders and still have that mindset of being superior. Unless you treat equally wars will happen and eventually you will burn like Asia burned. If a guy was killed everyday in a small town its a problem and a cancer not a norm and each life should be reported but because its not I don't know about the plight of the Africans and they don't know about Asia and the west doesn't know about these incidents. If they were reported people would realize that these countries consist of humans who suffer more than we do and developed empathy and try to help. You just put iron the back burner until its your turn. Whatever happens its all on you as a whole and I hate governments and intelligence and armies including mine because they are hypocrites and the war on terror is a facade and they are just manipulating the populace and creating problems instead of solving them and we let them do it so that's on us. If people say IRS the norm so no reporting then I say screw you it should still be reported not for ratings but for awareness and humanity especially since its people from the outside doing it not the locals like fans or something but terrorists.

Wife's family are from Sahiwal. Is that anywhere near the place?

It usually is the case with these things. It doesn't make news or isn't as bad unless it happens in the west or a first world country. Lives are valued differently unfortunately. More people will care about 10 Europeans than for example a 100 africans. As mentioned earlier by someone, since they expect people to die in a certain region due to famine, militia, drug cartels, extremists etc, it's considered a norm or it's expected.

Also, many people don't care about those regions are they have no attachment to these countries, cities etc. You see it all the time in other situations too. When I used to work for a NGO we used to get people saying they aren't interested and then later you woukd get calls about projects if something happened in their country.

Today a blast in my city Quetta occurred and it didn't even make national or local news. Only by word of mouth do I know. This is not the first time and no one in the country or world cares. Since 2001 thousands upon thousands have died in my city and province Balochistan. Children have died so have women and young men and old and no one cares. If this many deaths occurred anywhere else I assure you you would know but it feels like out lives don't matter. More people have died in my city alone due to terrorism then probably the whole of Europe and USA combined but no one cares. Don't know how many replies I'll get or how many of you will care but the world will still not care. Don't know how why I wrote this thread but I noticed the French one and thought why are some humans seen as more important then others. These anger me because of the fact that this is so close to my heart

If Pakistan was an important country, with lots of interaction with the rest of the world and international fame, then maybe the world would care. But even if u were as important as Japan, u still wouldn't get the same attention as France, becuz ur not a white country. Cold harsh truth man.

So the advice I give to Pakistan is: become a country that's associated with good things, not poverty, corruption or terrorism.

More children starve than people who die in terrorattacks. Should we just ignore everything else then?
Lets not make this into some kind of opression olympics, please.

Western media reports mainly on western things. In my family, we mostly talk about our own everyday life. I know, its a complete shock, isnt it?

If your own local media isnt even reporting on it, then it sounds like your country is fucked. I wouldn't wanna be in your shoes.

India has corruption, poverty and terrorism, but the difference is they are seen as friendly by the west and an important player in case there is ever a need to go to war with Pakistan, Afghanistan or any other Islamic country seen as a threat. The west has always had an uneasy relationship with Pakistan and partially I blame dodgy Politicians in Pakistan. The split with Bangladeshand treatment of Bengalis at the time, the coup against Mohammed Jinnas daughter,  assinations, military coupes etc.

Pakistan is 70 years or so old. Just look at what Murica did and still does like civil war slavery discrimination wars with literally everyone except Europe not including Germany etc

Please close this thread, its going nowhere. Please mods close this thread. I shouldn't have made it because the majority either talks like they are superior and are highlighting everything wrong with the first world. Condolences to everyone living in messed up places and to everyone else at least make an effort to understand instead of criticise. The norm thing I addressed and is really annoying sorry to people of cuba Brazil Africa Syria Yemen Burma and everywhere else where there are problems. And the problems we have are all caused by AFGHANS and USA and Pakistani government the people are innocent. We do have problems but not such problems as a society these are outside problems thrown on us without choice. God help us all and now mods please close this thread please do it.
