A world where Android rules is not a world I'd want to live in...

Nor a world where MS rules either...

Trust me. That's actually a world I want to live on! I miss the 90's, back when MS taking over the world was a future anyone was able to see with their own eyes...

Nowadays, it's crappy Google, corny and freaky South Korean and Taiwanese electronics and pop culture and Sony/Nintendo... I'd rather have Apple take over MS to keep Android at bay if it comes down to it...

Or Xiaomi buys Google...

is this optional or is it forced?

Sorry to say, you can’t just make an OS and expect it to be successful. At this stage Windows is still the most popular OS in the world. Ask anyone what Windows is and tell somebody what Linux is. You can’t just push into the market and expect it to do wonders.

If Microsoft pisses off enough people with their policies then I can see a mass migration of PC gamers to another OS.  I'm already looking to move onto something else around 2020 or so.

Windows has always been an up and down OS. Some years it’s bad, some years its good. If it pisses off gamers than they will simply revert back to their old ways again and market the hell out of it. Windows has been around for decades, I doubt a few haters are going to change a business plan that will probably generate billions. Remember if you want to play DX12 games and Xbox Exclusives like Scale bound, ReCore, Sea Of Thieves, Gears 4 and Horizon 3 just for a few examples you’re going to need to be a Windows/Xbox gamer. Go Linux or Mac, that’s your choice. I honestly couldn’t care less if they implement a pay wall. Everything else has a pay wall. I play games for fun and I’m willing to pay for my own entertainment if i have too. I have been subscribed to WoW since 2004. I don’t think a Windows paywall will worry me one bit. That will also lead to better support and updates.

To this day, no one has made a better and more successful OS than MS Windows. It’s not perfect but once you leave, trust me on this, you will come crawling back. You will be surprised on how good Windows actually is compared to its competitors.

I've seen the end reuslt, I'd rather not live in a world where MS wants to lock everything and everyone down.

I also don't see how you can dislike one other form ruling but you prefer another you like to rule over others and screw over other people's desire for a different option. I'd also rather Apple not rule the world either, last thing we need is either one of those two wiping out all competition and locking everything down.

I'd rather have a close competition with one side having an slight advantage. I just despise the idea that Google, Sony,  LG or Samsung should rule...

I'd rather no form of lockdowna nd no defacto OS. Also what other close comeptiton has there ever been in the past 10-20 years in the OS space?. We can say Mac OS but lets be real, that's largely used by artists and isn't suited for gaming let alone being used for gaming so with that OS out of the way we are out of fresh competition for desktop OS's.

I despite the idea of MS ruling over all...

See I know you and I have differing opinions and all that jazz but you deep down want my options, my idea of competition completely done away with because  of favouritsm. I have no favoritism, not at this point in time since the past two Windows OS's have served to oush me further away from MS. I have no such desire for MS to do away with everyone and lock us all under one OS, one API. No thanks, I'd rather the competition thrive and grow to a size where MS can never rule because the fact of the matter is, we don't ened a ruler because it shows arrogance, it shows how little choice we have when one rules over all.

I actually want Linux and the other variant being Android to grow and thrive because then those two can become suitable options for others to choose rather than being forced towards another side due to there being no choice at all, that's just bad to look at that in some positive way, there is nothing positive about being forced into something you don't like.

Did you just read what I posted? I have zero favoritism, but MS has great track record to me. Their track record towards you might be horrible though...

Linux has always been the meh OS to me. Apple is good enough, but has the issues that Windows and Linux don't. I hate Android and find it's easier to use Symbian than try and deal with that piece of shite...
