Don't worry guys, #PrayForNice is the number 1 trend worldwide on Twitter. We've saved France again

This goddamn trend, couch activism and "pray for xxx" written and shared by tens of millions who aren't even religious. Social media sure helps the world in a grand way.

Sometimes I feel like governments of the world are just sitting waiting for it to magically stop.

As opposed to what? It's just a message to convey solidarity, it's like yelling at someone for sending condolences for a family member passing and being upset at them that they didn't do anything to save the life of said family member.

No its just reaching first world countries. It has been crazy in Asia and Africa since a lot of time

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

No it's not, people don't care, especially about things that happen to people in the far corners of the world, or somewhere they haven't been on vacation. It's superficial and fake and it annoys me. To make matters worse, quite a few people that I know directly support the politics and politicians that help create these issues and turmoil to begin with, and then they change their facebook profile pic for a couple of weeks and then switch it back to one of them having a glass on the beach.

I remember the last time France was attacked, some news outlets pointed out that no one was sad for the terror attack in Lebanon, suddenly people changed their flag to a Lebanese one as well (many days after) and pretended to have insight into foreign conditions and conflicts. It's quite pathetic how trends dictate these things where real human lives are spent.

My point is; it's not heartfelt sorrow, it's a trend, and that removes the whole point of condolences to begin with. Social media is becoming an arena for sameness, a place where you show how good, informed, kind etc. you are.

It's really not like yelling at someone for passing condolences to someone who has lost a family member; that's a real situation where you have an actual stake and you might actually have known the person who passed, this changing profile pics bs is nothing like that. It's remote, superficial and of no consequence to anyone, terrorist or victim. Or do you think that a bunch of profile pics will change how victims or family of victims feel for the rest of their lives? Does it make any region or nation safer? No, it's a trend to show how kindly you are, nothing more.

I also abhorr tragedies, but I have no need to plaster my social media account with proof of it, I have nothing to prove on facebook and my actions won't really change anything. I do speak up against idiots who support idiots who have gotten us where we are though, it might not help either but at least it's direct.

As opposed to this:

One response attempts to help the victims financially while the other achieves nothing other than making oneself good. Doing good >>> Feeling good

I wonder if there were threads like these in the 40's...

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Corporations have taken control of the world's biggest superpower and the world is destabilizing as a result.

My one-sentence summary of world politics.

I LOVE ICELAND!

9/11 is the defining moment that has changed the world. Before 9/11 the world was a great place to live, little crime and endless peace. Over the last 15 years the wold has become more violent, more crime and endless war.
It seems like every hour there is a terrorist attack occurring somewhere in the world. Many citizens now live in a constant state of fear and anxiety and worrying about terrorism.

China bullying its way in the South China Sea. International Law be damned because they have the money.

The US and Russia playing chess games in Syria while ISIS plays the 3rd wheel.

The EU struggling with the refugee crisis and terrorist attacks plus Brexit and Turkey's coup attempt.

Trump vs Hilary to top things off.

I'm leaving a lot out but the song "It's the end of the world" comes to mind.
