Forums - Gaming Discussion - Apple is BEYOND out of touch of Pokemon's popularity.

Pokemon Go has been released, and you already know that unless you have lived under a rock for the past 2 weeks or so. It is raising over 2 million dollars a day, more daily users than twitter and tinder combined, and pretty much the fastest growing player-base to a game of all time, and that might be an understatement.

It's no surprise, Pokemon has always been one of the most iconic and popular brands of all time. Yet, somehow, Apple and iTunes doesn't seem to catch on that one of the biggest apps, if not the biggest app of the year was just released on iOS and android.

If you go to the front page of iTunes (as of now) these are the featured apps and games you will see:

-NBA Live Mobile

-Super Stickman Golf 3

-Ghostbusters Slime City

-15 "Spookiest" Games

- Auto Warriors

- Clash Royale

Some of those games aren't even new... and I highly dought games by the titles of "Super Stickman Golf 3" and "Auto Warriors" are going to generate more revenue than damn Pokemon.

Who is in charge of selecting the featured apps and games on the iTunes front page, and HOW LONG will it take to change it? How much can you underestimate something that is #1 on your webstore for "Top Grossing" and hasn't left that position once since. Oh Apple, this just proves you are another business men suit-and-tie company that knows ZERO of what is trending or popular.

Or, maybe the featured apps are paid advertised space and Nintendo didn't pay Apple to put Pokemon Go in the featured section?

I guess you pay apple a fee to appear on the front screen.

Ya, I always thought it was this. Apple App Store is also the wild west of applications.

Why do they really need to feature Pokemon Go? It's popular enough that people will download it on their own.

Pokemon GO is a Niantic, Google, Nintendo collaboration. Apple would feature the game if they were paid to do so, but I don't think Apple wants to strengthen a Nintendo/Google partnership...

Too many musings of a Nintendo Phone start coming to mind. The Gameboy 2.0...

Yup. Why give a popular game unnecessary advertisement? It's gonna sell regardless of Apple's efforts.

In fact, ignoring the trend is the best a retailer (or whatever digital media distributors are called) can do. Person A wants to buy Product B, but he hast to go through a plethora of other stuff to get to it. There's a better chance he ends up buying more than just Product B this way.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Just a question OP. Are you completely clueless how the app store works? Because it certainly seems so.

It's so popular at this point that if you haven't already downloaded it, you never will.
