Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Biggest issue(s) with Microsoft for you

For me it is mostly about trust. MS has never had to really appreciate their customers, they are used to dictating their customers to do what MS wants. I think Sony managed to to make a turnaround during Kaz Hirais time, remember during Howard Stringers Sony pushing own standards and DRM and so on, and they almost lost it all. MS has never had that experience and that is why they keep on pushing their needs rather than their customers needs.

- Forcing Windows compatibility kind of makes redundant to have the console.

No one on Xbox is forced to use Windows.

- Terrible game library and lack of game variety.

Taste is relative and there's plenty of variety.

- Sony exists. And its better. So much better.

Driveclub, Street Fighter 5, and The Order 1886 exist and are not 'better' than compareable Xbox One titles.

Why are you replying to people without quoting them? And why are you trying to attack peoples opinions?

You don't need to defend Microsoft from pesoples opinions. Hell you contradicted yourself in your own post. You say taste is relative - and then immediately list off games YOU don't think are good. Using your taste.

they so sensitive!

With all their wealth, they should have an entire army of 1st party devs, yet they prefer to buy timed exclusives...

Their idea of gaming as a service.

In the end, I think there's a better alternative to almost every product they offer.

Windows Store and UWP are my main concerns.

1) A disastrous launch with all that DRM nonsense

Was scrapped prior to launch.

2) Not following through on Kinect

Kinect works fine as a convenience feature and games regularly launch.  Airguitar makes great Kinect games with their latest launching last month.

3) Mismanaging Halo after Bungie left

The latest entry sold very well and millions regularly play on Live.

4) Mismanaging Rare/Rare's IPs

Rare Replay was a big hit and Sea of Thieves received positive press at this year's E3.

5) Closing Lionhead and robbing the world of Fable

Happens.

6) Lackluster first-party software in general

Taste is relative.

7) Buying timed exclus

Common industry practice.

Oh I didn't even realize I had been quoted.

1) yes, I know it was scrapped. That it was put forward in the first place is the problem.
2) they bundled Kinect with XOne and failed to support it with software, then quickly abandoned it.
3) I know a lot of people bought and currently play Halo 4/5. So what? The series under 343 has suffered greatly, from a narrative and mechanical point of view.
4) Microsoft purchased Rare in 2002. I don't know if a 30-game compilation released in 2015 and an unreleased title excuse over a decade of mismanagement.
5) "Happens"? That's your argument? Yes studios close all the time; that doesn't make Lionhead's closure any easier to bear. Xbox needs more diversity, and Fable could have helped with that.
6) "Taste is relative." That's a truism, no? This thread is about what's wrong with Microsoft to each of us. So I'm allowed to express my preferences and priorities.
7) Yes, buying timed exclusives or timed DLC is commonplace. But Microsoft has been especially guilty of it this generation. And it's all the more glaring on Xbox because of the paucity of meaningful "true" exclusives.

I don't have a lot to say about MS, strictly speaking Xbox.

1) Their XBO reveal was a disaster
2) Don't like their paid online subscription fee
3) Against the idea of Scorpio (And Neo. One of my gripes with Sony)
4) Buying Rare (I have more of an issue of what became of Rare. They're a shell of their former greatness)

5 is more personal, but I've just never been that interested in their games. They don't really appeal to me, which is why I don't buy their consoles. Nothing against them of course. Just my tastes differ from what they offer.

They didn't buy Bioware when they had the chance

They didn't buy Bioware and they screwed up Obsidian Entertainment. If you think this through, MS could have had two amazing developers that would satisfy the RPG/Action-Adventure demand with gems after gems. I hadn't thought of this until I saw your post, and this is probably among the biggest offenders of them.

As for my personal biggest issue, Kinect. It made the 360 starved after 2011, which wouldn't have been the case had Kinect not released (the amount of exclusive games and shovelware for it is astonishing), and it turned out to be a big stain in what otherwise I consider an amazing console. Unless you liked Kinect, on which case you probably were extremely happy with it.

Flip-flopping.
Popularized paid online.
2013.
90s
Lied about exclusivity since X1 day one..
Win 8 and 10.

I haven't tested the phones so i don't truly know enough

PSN: Opticstrike90
Steam: opticstrike90

- Lack of new IP/games developed internally

- Their lack of a consistent message when announcing stuff

- 343's/MS handling of the Halo IP

- Only get game announcements during E3

- Severe downgrade in their marketing ability of the Xbox brand compared to last gen.

Yep, I'm still salty that they let EA buy them.
