Forums - Gaming Discussion - Best enemy AI

gta V has such irritating cops. One minute there's 2 cops, and the next there's 5 helicopters and 80 cars shooting you down.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

TLOU? Although its a bit inconsistent. Sometimes they do really awesome and smart things other times not so much...

Hmm. Freedom Fighters and Halo CE.

Gta 5

Anyone who has played the original Perfect Dark on N64 will knows how good the AI is even compared to todays standard. The enermies can do so much. Still one if the best AIs iv seen in a FPS game.

Honorable mention to Fear 1. They had awesome enermy tactics.

It's also pretty sad... It seems that game AI hasn't advanced that much in 20 years. I know for sure there have been some advances, but it seems that relatively few of them make it into commercial games.

The Last of Us comes to my mind.

Uncharted 4 has killer AI. both enemy and friendly.

Of the games I've played, I'd have to say F.E.A.R. for sure. The AI is both aggressive and smart. The game wouldn't feel the same with a less aggressive and smart AI.

I also liked the AI in the first Crysis. I honestly have no idea why a lot of people seemed to dislike it, because I thought it acted in a pretty smart and believable way. It also supported the suit powers very well. The AI may not have been very good at combat tactics but other than that, I think it was pretty good.

Gotta agree with F.E.A.R. Really impressive stuff.

I'll also nominate Halo Reach. I was pleasantly surprised by how quick and resourceful enemies are in that game.

I have to concur with what many have said here; it's a bit disappointing that AI doesn't seem to have improved all that much over the last two generations. Halo: Combat Evolved, a 6th gen launch title from 15 years ago, still has better AI than a lot of modern games.

Having said that, I'll also concur with Veknoid above me, and say that Halo Reach gets my pick as well. The way enemies push forward when you're damaged or reloading, flee when outgunned, dodge and flank you, and generally seem to have actual situational awareness, makes them feel a lot more organic and intelligent than the average "bob up and down behind cover" cannon fodder in most shooters.

Seriously the best AI right now is not AI. It's going up against other people online.

They are working on quantum processors that will end up in future gaming consoles and then you will see a renaissance of artificial intelligence that will make you cry for mama.

Current AI in games is just a clever illusion of intelligence and nothing more.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!
