Forums - Nintendo Discussion - In your honest opinion how long do you think Pokemon GO will last

Too long. I've started unfollowing ppl now that post stuff on my news feed.

I was thinking two weeks after release on each country...

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

As it gets colder outside, it will begin to slow greatly. Can't quite hunt for pokemon when there's 3 feet of snow on the ground.

That would only apply to certain regions of the world.  Plus, people still go out when it's cold in many areas unless it is REALLY cold.

At this rate probably for 4/5 months, but if Niantic manges well the updates with all of the other Pokémon, PvP, trading etc. maybe more...

Really hard to tell, but I dont think it will last only few months, game becoming world fenomen and and still isn't out on most of markets, also game is already biggest mobile game in history of US.

The hype will last a few weeks at most until the end of the summer, however it will not somply die out. The reason being you can do it passively. Stuck at the mall with wife or girlfriend? Catch some pokemon. At boring family reunion? Eating lunch at place.that happens to be a.Pokestop? What will die out is the hundreds of people going on all day expeditions.

I'm flabbergasted nobody thought about it yet:

Pokémon Go + Role-playing (and possibly cosplaying too) Pokémon-themed casual sex = 2B+ sales

And it would work even with cold weather, maybe even better.

“The game requires couch potatoes to get off the couch, and the novelty will wear off when they get tired or when their phone batteries die. I give this four months at the top of the charts, then it will fade.”
-Patcher

I don't see Patcher logic being right because many players won't be couch potatoes. They'll be people with jobs or students who have active enough lives to travel around anyway with or without pokemon.

Of course it'll pull back in winter - but I'd figure next Spring when you introduce Gen 2, it'll be a whole new frenzy again.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Probably 1 to 3 years depending on updates and if anything becomes the new thing.
