I was interested when it was considered an indie game because I knew it was be $19.99 or under. At full price? I don't think so.

Provided it works on PC and is entirely stable day 1 (thanks to all that dough they got) then I might at some point, not day 1 though.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

We've been over this. If he can't fix it he's incompetent, end of story. It's solvable. Solvable like certain calculations being done beforehand.

For goodness sake, do some research. There are no calculations done 'beforehand' because it's procedurally generated. It's the nature of the tech behind the game.

So what keeps them from procedually generating a certain radius beforehand? You know, like every procedually generated game that has ever existed is generating the whole level before you enter it.

They already use a radius with precalculated assets or else you would see every blade of grass pop in at every step you take. There is no technological reason why that radius cannot be expanded.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Probably not, I just don't see the entertainment value in it at all. The concept is interesting and original though, it makes scope its main focus and could pave the way for other, more interesting titles in the future.

To me the game seems pointless. I don't like exploring for the sake of exploring, I have to have a goal, an objective, a sense of progression.

Signature goes here!

No gonna be way way to time consuming.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Yes, they've been working on extending that radius but they don't preload anything. This isn't Minecraft, this is an entire universe with far more details than Minecraft. Every block in Minecraft is a voxel while everything in No Man's Sky is built from tiny square vozels. There are various steps in the LOD, each is calculated as you draw nearer an object or planet. Nothing exists until you come across it.

Your objective is to get to the centre of the universe. To do that you have to upgrade your equipment/ship and level up.

That's my exact problem with it as well, and the times where players enter combat, or at the very least shoot at something, it looks really bad. An endless world with nothing worthwhile to do seems utterly pointless to me.
