Blah. I'm not watching it. They changed the genders of the characters because that's trendy these days.

Again in fear of being politically incorrect, this was never going to get bad reviews by most sites.

The director is a hack, all his films I have seen have been awful. Mccarthy, also simply awful.

I'm glad I am not the only one that feels this way. I do feel it will be hard to live up to the nostalgia i have from the original film but this one is a different take that I'm willing to give a chance to.

I read IGNs review and honestly it seems like the women in the movie did a great job and the CGI is pretty much everything it needed to be but there are some editing and pacing problems that set the movie back.

I don't mind giving a movie a chance, even though I have fond memories of the original and am not keen on a remake, BUT the trailers make this movie look freakin aweful, if it is good then the PR/Marketing people that put those together should be fired and never work in the industry again as they can't possibly be a representation of the movie.

PS: that review I find highly suspect given he also like The Heat and Spy which I thought sucked.

for me it's just that the trailers did nothing to me.

And I didn't like Spy or Bridesmaids either, it's just not my kind of humour.

Forced genderswap, forced humor and another brand milking movie.

I'm all for genderswaps, "empowered women" - which is a stupid term, it's like someone is "allowing women to be important" or something... But they abuse gender "wars", lgbt and racial tolerance for profits all over the place these days, disgusting.

Plus a reminder: people are paid to fight for movies/games/etc on social media these days.
Use the Scepticism Luke!

I do think that is going to come into play here a lot, fear of backlash from certain groups is fairly awful, especially when they are the groups who claim to want free speech and freedom for all.

That said a guardian review I'd take with a pinch of salt, going to take more than one 80% review to make this movie able to live up to the original film trilogy, or like others have said, if there is so much desire to create a powerful girl based team movie... I dunno create one? Charlies angels is overdue for another reboot.

Edit lol'd at metacritic, all the main characters are female.... Starring : Chris "I'm Thor Bitches" Hemsworth , female cast, even in their own movie they get listed behind the dude, that's gonna sting. Thor is shiny though!

Come on now, maybe you need to take off your nostalgia glasses and realize the original Ghostbusters was not the kind of masterpiece the reboot could never live up to, it's just not that great lol. I only watched the movie recently because everyone is reminiscing each time a new trailer is released for the reboot XD

I am sure there are feminists who will love this movie no matter how bad it is and I am sure there are feminists will still hate it no matter how good it is. "Ms.male", "gender-swapping" and other non-existent issues can always be resorted to by anal feminists, and let's admit it, most feminists these days are that anal.

I am also sure some reviewers went into the movies preconvinced the movie was bad, and believe it or not, non-biased reviewers exist too. The score is up to 79%. It just can't be that bad.

The thing is when content of the review is 50% addressing "the youtube sexist hate" with a lot of the positive reviews, you have to think for a second, and think do they have an agenda here?

The thing is, this seems to be getting "SJW vs Other" all over again.

Third wave feminists and SJW are party poopers for sure. Not taking their side, but the hate on youtube and the criticisim from the haters was just over the top. Including the criticism for the new cover of Ghostbusters theme song, it was alwyas a ridiculous song with cheerleeders shouting "ghostbusters" every 20 seconds, why anyone is butthurt about the new one is beyond me. People make it sound like a Radiohead is being covered and ruined by One Direction, when in reality, it's more like One Direction is covering a Backstreet Boys song.
