Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Satoru Iwata passed away one year ago

It’s hard to believe but it has been one year since the tragic passing of the late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. Mr Iwata passed away on July 11th 2015 due to bile duct cancer and his legacy shall forever be remembered. The Japanese clock just turned to July 11, 2016 which means its one year since Satoru Iwata left us. Feel free to share your favourite Iwata memories or just pay tribute to the man who was a key part of Nintendo’s success.

Still hard to believe to this day. :( Nintendo just doesn't feel the same without him. I hope he is resting well wherever he may be.

a year goes by so fast. It doesnt feel so long ago.

I guess I'll make it an annual thing to play Balloon Fight on this day.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

It's been one year, and it still hurts. He died too young .

Please excuse my bad English.

I still remember the way I felt when it was annouced that he had passed. He was practically the face of Nintendo, maybe more so than even Reggie or Miyamoto.

bet: lost

Still hurts to think about

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Still a really darn shame that he had to go so young. :/

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Time sure goes by fast... It still feels recent... :'(

Wow, a year already. And he'll be remembered for many still to come. I didn't realize it, but my random thought in the official Zelda thread earlier today is a nice coincidence now.

It's too bad he had to go during a bad period in Nintendo history, if only he'd seen people's optimism today.
