So Pokemon Go has being released in some parts of the world already, and people are obviously excited. And its apparently getting a lot of money too, as usually big FTP games do. My question is, with Go still having to be released worldwide (does it release in China? that would be amazing) and if Nintendo can keep the game fresh for a long time, will the Pokemon Go profits alone be bigger or smaller than all of the WiiU's profits (software+hardware+licensing)?

For now let's keep it within 2016, will Pokemon Go's profits in 2016 be bigger than the WiiU's profits in 2016?

Also, I have no idea how to quantify the WiiU's profits, do they appear on the investors meetings?

We'll have no way to know, but I think Wii U's profits are pretty miniscule.

Then why are you gonna spend money on something you don't like? That'd be like me buying Color Splash.

I suppose that depends on what we mean by profits... plenty of consoles, including some ones that did very well in terms of total sales (Xbox360 comes to mind), never turned a profit.

What's the phrase they use... gross profits? If it's that for the Wii U, not taking expenses into account, I'd be surprised if Pokemon Go surpasses it lifetime.

This year, though, honestly I have no way of estimating or guessing lol... All I know is that I'm getting texts from all my friends who know I'm into games simply assuming that I'm playing this game and asking for my username heh, this game is huge atm

I mean all the money Nintendo is going to win thanks to the WiiU in 2016. Including hardware, software, fees of 3rd parties...

Considering the only 2016 Wii U games that come to mind are Pokken and Starfox, I really wouldn't be surprised if it made more profit than all of Wii U's 2016 software compared.

Yeah and I don't think it's going to be hard. I actually hope Pokemon GO and their upcoming DeNA games (if successful) completely convince Nintendo that the casual market has fled to mobile, won't be coming back to Nintendo hardware and to concentrate their casual offerings to mobile. Like, if they ever think "hey, lets make a low production sequel to Link's Crossbow Training", the first thing they conclude is to put it on mobile.  In fact, a lot of the things that Nintendo wants to do with their gimmicks in-terms of forcing more live person-to-person social interaction can be done on mobile with kids and the casual crowd.

I'll go with Pokemon Go.
