You're not wrong. Tons of people, myself included, always bitch about pointless number boasting, corporate BS, and talking about pretty much anything besides actual video games (such as TV shows, services, or new hardware without new software to show for it).

Oh, and wasn't it confirmed that Microsoft only put in the Scorpio announcement at the last minute this E3 because the S was leaked and they wanted a big reveal? The decision had nothing to do with Sony, and Sony's decisions at E3 had nothing to do with Microsoft. People still think a war is being fought for some reason...

Was it confirmed? Contradiction.

I stand corrected. I could have swore I read an interview where a rep said the reveal was added late in the game.

But I also stand by my interpretation of the events. At this point the 8th gen 'console war' has been long over, and each company is focusing their energies on different things - for Nintendo it's entering mobile & launching NX, for Sony it's all about that VR, and for Microsoft it's reclaiming PC territory.

Around the Network

The Scorpio was def showed pretty prematurely they should reverse those for next year E3 2017. Reason because they just showed a new hardware announcement: Xbox S. So the Xbox S should be the main focus of their hardware.
Now as for the NEO. It's still bugging me about all of this NEO, Scorpio and NX. Not a fan of this gen dying so fast.

However, announcing this early, not only takes some of the wind out of the Slim's sails

To be fair it should also take a little bit of wind out of Playstation 4's sails too, it was a strategic move and a smart one.

Fact of the matter is, Microsoft won that news cycle and hopefully that translates into sales, would not like to see any singular company dominant in any industry.
