In many cities, big churches and some religious buildings are like landmarks, specially in Europe and Latin America. I think they programmed the game to use certain points of interest  - including churches - as pokestops. 

The thing is...you don´t actually need to go inside the church to get your pokeballs. Probably

I'm pretty sure driving prevents you from finding them. People only get them when they are at stops. Stop driving around with Pokemon Go people. Your eggs also won't incubate if you go over 10mph.

Server issues aside I never had this much fun with a Pokemon game since gen 2, I'm not even kidding. First time in a very long time I truly feel like a kid again.

I believe this is correct. I found a 5 km egg in a PokeStop near my house and after that I went to work on my car which is a 8 km (around 5 miles) distance. And when I got to the office, the egg only had 2/5 km.

I can only assume those 2 km were from when I was in traffic or going slower than a speed limit the game has. 

I'm getting really fucking mad over this shit. I want iiiiiiiit 😢😢😢
