Is it 'Let's kill some people' week or what's going?

I hadn't heard about the body cam thing. Glad that the huge number of cameras out there these days means that things like this are recorded and brought to the public.

It's a tough video to watch, and what makes me particularly depressed are commenters that say that he was a registered sex offender and a child molester and therefore deserved what he got. This idea that no matter what you do in life after you commit a crime you will then always be garbage in the eyes of some is depressing. This was another human with a family and children. There was no reason to kill him now because of a mistake far in his past.

...

Confused why the officers just didn't arrest him if he really happened to do something criminal. They already had him tucked up the floor, he couldn't do anything anyway.

The thing that bothers me is when you are forcefully manhandling someone like that you are going to cause a person discomfort. When your body experiences discomfort like that it is hard to remain completely still. Yet one officer puts the gun to the mans chest threatening to shoot if he moves again. It's a lose/lose situation. These officers lucked out because this man had a checkered past and they can also say he was resisting arrest. The officer that shot the gentleman in Minnesota yesterday evening wasn't so lucky as that guy was a stand up citizen and was actually complying with the officer when shot.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Video doesnt really show much tbh, he could have been reaching for a gun for all we know. the bodycam footage being missing is concerning though.

A Police officer should not pull out his gun unless he thinks that his or anyone's life is in danger.

Even if Sterling applied certain force that the cop interpreted to be an intentional move to grab the gun.

The most logical procedure is to pull the gun away from the suspect, not to trigger it.

And still, this does not justify aiming your gun at a suspect in that position. I like to think that it was an accident. But man, there has been so many "accidents" against the same specific demographic that it really makes you wonder if we are giving the benefit of the doubt too easily nowadays.

He was on probation, yet carrying a weapon. If he was reaching for his gun, do you think the police officer is willing to die for some criminal? Yes what the officer did was wrong (even if you're planning to shoot, always go for the legs first, or if you can't try to supress the weapon), but it doesn't mean this person was certainly kind to the people he commited crimes against.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

It's absolute BS.First they tackle him to the ground, put a gun in his chest then say"if you move,I swear to God".He wasn't leaving there alive.

Was he really reaching for his gun?  So this guy who was selling bootleg CDs decided that when he was pinned down by two cops he could probably shoot them if he tried.  They shot a man who was on the floor because he moved his arm.  Shooting to kill at the first sign of any possible danger is not the correct move and it's how things like this keep happening.

Also, I'm not saying he was kind to the people he committed crimes against, but I'd like you to find me a crime in his record that you think should be punished by firing squad.  Otherwise, saying "oh well he committed ____ crimes so just another criminal off the streets" is a soulless and inhuman way to look at a tragic event.

You might be right on the officers being lucky due to their past and the resisting arrest, but there's the wildcard of the missing bodycam. Why did the camera mysteriously went missing? Also, without the bodycam, some of the officer's claims could be refuted. The phone recording, on the other hand, gives the officers a not very flattering point of view.
