So in other words it will appeal to nobody...
That's not really a positive thing. Power Rangers is meant to be neither "dark" nor "serious". So if that's the direction they're going, in addition to how silly the new outfits look....yeah, I think I'm good.
Just more Hollywood regurgitation.
Darker is ok but I have a feeling that they're going to try and turn it into something which simply doesn't work.
I never expected it to be as campy as the 90s films/shows, but theres nothing inherently wrong or unappealing about a family friendly summer blockbuster. I'd like to see a tone similar to the first transformers, but with a little bit more heart in it.
That sounds like a huge mistake. Putting it in contrast with the current shows, it's gonna be ridiculous.
The last thing Power Rangers needs is a Nolan-like approach to the material.
That sounds horrible tbh.... a super serious and dark power rangers movie? flooooooop.

^ I wrote my msg before even reading yours.
My thoughts mirror yours in this matter, basically 100%.
How do you get hired in Hollywood to make movies? Because it seems pretty fucking easy if something this stupid could be greenlit passed the idea phase XD
Never watched the series as a kid but I also know a Dark Knight approach isn't going to work... This isn't Batman which does hold a more serious tone, this is the friggin Power Rangers!
Oh man, I can't wait for the inevitable gritty Barney the Dinosaur reboot

I feel the same way. These things are supposed to be targetted towards children. Is it really that hard to stick to the original feel of the Power Rangers? Isn't that what everyone fell in love with?
Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.
